I have been hearing that ExpertSDR3 should have "pure signal".
Can someone explain what this actually is so that a 10year old could understand.
Is it present in the current version 13?

Currently V3 13 DOES NOT HAVE ADAPTIVE PREDISTORTION ABILITIY Just want to make that Clear "Not at this Time!"

Basically, it is the ability to improve linearity of a transmitted signal
Clean up the IMD products and intermodulation

Here are a couple links that may help you

(note this presentation is dealing with mm-wave frequencies) but should give you the overall concept

This video has a few other topics (Some I find interesting and can only hope perhaps EE takes note " Hint @ EE" Overlap Save Buffers and CFC) the later part has some newer info on Predistortion

Is it possible to introduce predistortion with software only and not with the introduction of a hardware?

I am pretty sure it requires both, hardware to detect and the software to apply the changes then the hardware can monitor/detect and again if needed application applies changes

If you look at the block diagram of a 2DX you will see EE were at least in design thinking about this going forward

So pretty much the existing hardware/models of the EE line up is impossible to have pure signal/pre distortion unless EE comes up with a hardware to be incorporated to the said existing models right?

No hardware is in place (see above diagram) the software needs to have the ability-

Which should happen hopefully some point next year

couple and a half cents

1. Adaptive Predisdortion is correct scientific name. ("Pure signal" is the marketing bullshit, created "as-a-brand" by known vendor, hence should not be used in connection to EE/ESDR3).
2. From current HW devices line the only DX has a capacity to adopt SW implementation of the Adaptive Predisdortion.

Extra 0.5 cents bonus: certainly, not this time. Should not be expected in Rel ESDR3 1.0. Perhaps 1.1 or 1.2. Only in DX and future HW models. And we better cease any futher speculations now. Lets wait till formal EE announcement - this will clear up expectations, timelines, etc.
