so I’ve had the dx for 5 days, and I’m almost there with getting my rack tweaked for what I consider Essb sounding audio. Here’s what I’m running;

Stellar x2 condenser mic
Art studio tube pre amp
Art 31 band eq
Apex 204 with big bottom
Behringer multicom comp/limiter/gate
Behringer 3D virtualiizer
M audio air 192|6 audio interface

Had some latency issues when releasing my foot switch ptt. Updated the m audio driver and added a 500ms delay to the tx/rx ptt delay. Also getting rid a little bit on 40 where I really never did with my 5000. I’m adding a modified Golden Maxima before the audio interface to knock that out.

Had to cut my bass ranges a LOT and now I’m sounding sweet at least I think so lol

Anyone having issues using an audio interface for their rack?

I have two paths wired, both work fine.

1) mic -> rack gear -> XLR switch -> line level into Motu M2 and that uses Mic PC

2) mic -> rack gear -> XLR switch -> W2IHY iPlus -> Mic2. The IHY iPlus lowers the line level to mic level and has isolation transformers in it too.

I have both because I had RF getting into the USB devices on one band for a while. I think the Motu path has a bit more of a shiny high end to it but they are both very close.

My one is pretty simple too.
I have sold or removed all external audio processing and now I only use the DAW Ableton live and VST plugins.

Mic Audiotechnica 2020 ->focusrite scarlet 8i6 ->Ibox by W2IHY ->Mic2

The main reason for removing the external gear was the complexity of the solution.
Now I can change the profile with a simple mouse click instead of dip dive into the menu of each units, or worse changing the position of zillion knobs.
No more RF issues.
No more dust.
Space on the desk.
Loads of spare power socket - at the peak, I was using 27 power sockets in my shack :yahoo:
The only thing I miss is the analogue VU meter of art pro-VLA II.

It would be awesome to hear a clip of your audio. In fact, if you like what your hearing-- please let us hear it too! ;)
