Keep in mind Flex hasn't done a single thing to fix issues like NB since there first release some years ago and there software is Stale at best- no updates in how long?

also ANAN has there issues with software as well esp. since Richie hasn't been involved in coding

While I think EE should have waited on doing a BETA at minimum instead of an ALPHA

I will say in my opinion of running several SDR rigs over the last 14 years that EE hands down has been the most stable.

And if I had to choose between the two you mentioned and those were my only choices I would go with the ANAN over a FLEX.! and their DumbSDR

Thanks for putting this out so we can get a look at it.

Looks very nice, seems responsive, quick to launch.

I can't really test it on transmit as the ASIO driver seems missing, I can't select my microphone.

I couldn't find anywhere to set the TX filter width and I need control of that or I won't be able to control how wide I am depending on conditions and nearby traffic. There's also no way to know what range of audio response I have to work with.

For digital modes, I'll need VAC functioning to select the virtual audio cable to use with digi mode software (fldigi).

The install instructions and firmware upgrade did work properly with Win10, no issue there.

It's a good start, evidently the "pro" version is what I'll be waiting for to really use it on the air.

Any words or announcement from EE guys about this launch? I read a lot here are kinda frustrated with this alpha launch instead of the beta one as announced.

1 poor graphics rendering frequency display indicator ( panorama) and digital scale
2 no execution of the TX command from the pedal (from the tangent )
3 no low-frequency signal at the modulator input ( when VAC Mic2 MIC1 is turned on)
4 There is no adjustment of the filter bandwidth and the squareness factor TX USER
5 the audio analyzer does not work !!!
6 The absence of control switching after the TX filter and microphone amplifier
7 no additional arrow indicator ( which will not be changed and will work like a candy bar). )
AND THIS IS A SMALL PART!!!!
P/S the manufacturer left the Rotator function , and how to configure it ? it is necessary to maintain the function of the oscilloscope with the ability to measure changes in time characteristics

There is no point to show your frustration in here no one is forced to use it.
Just run your previous version and enjoy it as before.
Or put the radio for sale ( just let us know when and where )
I would buy another one for sure.
How do you VooDoo?

Unfortunately, the Hams on the fence evaluating a new radio will be steered away from EE MB1 because of this missed opportunity. I'm a strong supporter, and added a new CPU, 32 GB memory and a new SSD hoping all of that would pay off for SDR3. From experience of the past few years, it appears a usable SDR3 may take 1-2 years. Full Duplex was offered in 2016 as well as remote access....and other features.

Would be interesting what one is to expect from the SW release.

It is a Alpha for sure. So I do not want to cover missfeatures that arent supported now.
So far:
  • No TX at all
  • Client software looses connection with occasionally with rig

Would be handy to have some sort of users manual so that one is looking for the right features.....

Another heads up for people. It *may* just be me, but in the transition of the firmware update process and then going back to using v8 that also required the firmware be switched back, along the way the frequency calibration got reset to 00000. If you find yourself off frequency, just do a recalibration.

For those with VAC set up for using fldigi, I found this (link below) to be a very easy way to do frequency calibration and it gets me down to within 1Hz. I used to do it by ear by zero beating a side tone with WWV or by switching LSB to USB and matching the beat tones there by ear. This way you can just use your eyes if you don't hear intonation well enough. By ear I would get to within 2Hz or so but only after spending a good while mucking with it.

I used to do the same until I realized another method that is far faster. Set RX mode instead to DSB while tuned into a strong WWV signal. You can hear a "warble" in the carrier tone generated as you rock the VFO back and forth on either side of say 10.000.000 Hz. I adjust the calibration offset up or down to yield the same "error" warble on each side of the center freq. You know you have it properly zero-beat when you can hear the identical warble in the tone as you go just 1 or 2 Hertz up and down on either side of "0", and no warble when on dead center. This quick by-ear method gets you within 1 Hz or less, and without having to switch modes back and forth from USB to LSB as before... Give it a try! :music:

Hello,

now that Expert Team is again at work, I received some feedback about issues I highlighted on the official support page.

1- The error "There are other ExpertSDR3 instance running" isn't an error. The message it is due to the new concept of "Device Manager". After running a EESDR3 instance, if you close the device manager, it actually stay minimized in the try bar. You can close it definitively with right-click -> Quit or you can resume with right-click -> Show on the same icon.

2- CW Pitch doesn't work. It will be released in a future V3 version.

3- NB does mute the receiver whichever settings I have on Threshold and Pulse width slider. It seem's to be a bug.

4- Unable to change TCI Port and/or Audio Interface - I have to disable the bottom right icons before I can change settings.

5. Unable to close NF+ filters. The way to close the the NF+ filter is changed. Ihave to click on the wheel button instead of the double mouse right click.

Maybe this can help someone that would like to continue testing.
