Windows 7 is old and is not supported even by Microsoft, not saying other developers or development environments.
We do not test ESDR2 or ESDR3 on Windows 7 for the last couple of years.

I was having the same issue and noticed the microphone selection in the Settings screen had changed from Mic 2 (what I use) back to Mic1. I couldn’t reproduce the issue but maybe the mic selection in Settings is different or not associated to selecting it on the front screen at the mic level.

Thinking about it, the front panel is which mic is activated and possibly I was trying to adjust mic1 in the Settings panel while I had mic2 selected on the panel, maybe each mic profile in Settings is separate?

Possibly the Settings menu microphone should just follow which microphone is actually selected on the main panel? Less confusing that way.

Roman,
You mean, Expert Electronics ignores all Windows 7 users !? Are you kidding me?
v0.7.0 Alpha was running without any error. What changed since v0.7.0 in the windows enviroment?

But how could we require them to support something that is EOL (www.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/windows-7-end-of-life-support-information) !!??
Should they support any old OS, like XP then too?

Tomas,
Do you know exactly what does it mean EOL? And who is talking about XP at all?
v0.7.0 was running on w7x64. But somebody has the same "white window" problem on windows 10, too.

Another wish

With the new structure for the Settings for audio, there is a mic selection on the front panel top right and there is a mic selection in the Settings.

How about the hardware mic remain at the top right on the main panel and in Settings, have multiple profiles where the mic they are associated with is selected.

So you pick the hardware mic at the top right but the actual transmit profile, imagine SSB and AM and FM and say DX being the profiles, would have the hardware mic selected that you wish to associate with the transmit character in Settings.

This would allow for separate transmit profiles for different modes with the processing optimized for each.

I would further suggest putting the transmit bandwidth settings right in those profiles so a DX profile made for 2.8 would be bound to the profile/EQ, the transmit bandwidth and the hardware mic desired. Same for AM, 5kHz as an example, a softer overall processing approach and possibly a different mic selection.

I would say a memory bank of six profiles would be enough to configure for say 2.8, 3, 3.5, 4, 5, 6kHz as examples.

Another wish after using the radio for a few days. The waterfall speed, if you just had a “slow” that was 1/2 the speed it is now, that would be easy and provide both a fast waterfall and one that “logs” more time and activity.

Microsoft stopped Windows 7 support more than a year ago. All developers did the same, development environments like Qt6 no longer supports Windows 7, there is no point in supporting a "corpse". Even DirectX 11.2 released in 2013 is not supported by Windows 7.
Microsoft is going to release a Windows 11 soon, thus we'll need to support two Windows OS at the same time.

Please bear in mind that ESDR3 is in an alpha state, there might be bugs and strange behavior. At this stage I collect bug reports and pass them to the programmer, I don't know the cause or solution for each bug. We'll release new alphas each month. 0.8.1 is being tested right now and will be released at the end of the next week with bug fixes.
Please note that some bugs are caused by Qt6, which is also at an early stage and is being improved month by month.
0.8.0 I sent to testers was compiled using one Qt version, 0.8.0 published on our website was compiled on another Qt version (newer) and this version gave you a white screen. Now, 0.8.1 is being tested, by the end of the next week Qt might release a new version with improvements (or new bugs) it also may influence the quality of the 0.8.1 release.

Try power cycling the radio... I had the same problem and the power cycle cured it

In 0.8.1 is there any way to save the transmit profile? Each time I load eesdr3 it defaults to original values and wipes out my mike selection and turns off all the transmit parameters including resetting equalizer values.

Hello Roman,
Really thank you for your long and understandable answer! So... I will live with this "fact". I will use w7x64 with ExpertSDR2 as long as it possible.

Ed, have you raised a Bug Report? If not, I'd encourage you to do so. I have spotted a bug in 0.8.1 whereby the settings in the BM don't persist if you change Sample Rate, switch in RX2, turn off transceiver etc. Makes me wonder if there is a wider 'persistance' issue??

I've noticed that the external control on 0.8.0 does not unlatch the RX outputs when the radio is disabled or the software is closed. For remote operation, I think it's helpful when there are no connections to the radio to unlatch all outputs.

I operate my station remotely and when my radio is active, I use one of the ext control outputs to trigger a relay that controls a large fan. With ExpertSDR2, when I would close the software, the fan would shut off. Now with ExpertSDR3, I have to remember to go into the B.M. and uncheck the RX outputs.

I've also thought that it may be helpful to some if the band manager had a "select all in this column" button for each output? Then you could check that one box to enable that output for all bands.

Thank you all and 73

Have we heard of a estimated date of when the next update will be available for download?
