Hello,

i have tested today a deployment on Linux OS(Ubuntu 21.04 64bit) and EESDR 3.0 latest Alpha (0.81), and here are the results. I consider a success and I do hope users that are afraid of Windows instability and virus infection have another alternative. Not to count the opensource lovers :-)
I have heard the objection before - " If only it had Linux instead of Windows! "
I'm not doing this for Expert Electronics, I'm just a user and proud owner of MB1.

Cheers! 73

Do you have the list of procedure on how to wipe the windows system out of the MB1 and load it with the Linux system?

Wipe?
That is a bit aggressive and not needed. You can dual-boot Ubuntu Linux side by side to your Windows installation. Remember that only EESDR3 works on Linux for MB1. That is something I don't use for my daily driver as we are still waiting ATU and MB1 front panel support. Somehow EESDR3 is multidevice same code with a full coverage of all receivers&transceivers compiled for all supported OS types: Windows, Linux and MacOS. This is why I have shown a test with Linux and EESDR3. No EESDR2 full working software has MB1 transceiver support, exception is the Windows build.

But we are waiting for 0.9.0 EESDR3 release that will add MB1 additional support and then more functionality will be possible under Linux. More on-par with EESDR2 version under Windows.

Regards/73!

Good to know that there's no need to wipe the windows os on the MB1, but how do you download the Linux/Ubuntu OS into the MB1? Sorry I'm a newbie on computers.

Hi
Please consider this highly experimental. Don't mess with your transceiver. Always have a backup. I play on additional SSD for all my experiments.
Please don't ask for procedures at this stage. As EESDR3 will advance to the final version I will consider to build a proper tested procedure easy to implement for HAMs.

Regards,
Chris
