ExpertSDR2 - Moving Zoom marker (blue triangle) - no middle click on Mac 30 Jan 2022 20:33 #1

So in the ExpertSDR2 manual it states to move and position the Zoom marker you can click left click and drag or wheel click to reposition. Alas there is no native function for a middle/wheel click when using a Magic Mouse on a Mac based machine.

Maybe this could be a different option than wheel click in ExpertSDR3?

Has anyone found a way around this for ExpertSDR2 on a Mac, please.

Thanks

ESDR2 shortcuts development were Win-based and in many cases (including trackpad or native Mac mouse) does not correspond with Mac. Quick-n-dirty workaround would be to use common 3-button 3rd party mouse (with clickable middle wheel) under Mac.

ESDR3 UI is currently under active development. Hence, if you are missing any UI feature for Mac (including shortcrust, trackpad or mouse operations, etc), please use SUGGESTIONS on Github

You might want to give an app called SteerMouse at try (plentycom.jp/en/steermouse/). It allows application-specific mouse button mapping.
I don't use it with ESDR software (I'm on a Windows system), but I've had good luck with it on my Mac with other apps.

SteerMouse (or whatever other 3rd party) - this is direct way to next forum post crying "why do I have latency/crackling/etc"
Especially if you did not test it yourself with ESDR and in specific SunSDR environment.

I am not against 3rd party software. Just has to be done with "brain first" and careful analysis if that 3rd party, actually, may impact any ESDR2/3 functions.

So, good news, I reported this as an issue to EE and they have responded by advising this will be fixed in the next release of ExpertSDR3.12

Also, for anyone still wanting to use a 'fix' for this, you might like to look up an app called BetterTouchTool which allows you to assign pretty much any command to a mouse action. Works a treat.
