Hello
The router indeed is the issue, possible solutions are there –

The most reliable connection is the direct connection between TRX and PC, or it should be a trusted router.
HIGHLY ADVISE NOT GETTING A DAMN SWITCH or ROUTER THAT IS A GREEN POWER MODEL>>> Also get a 1GB switch / Router, it will step down to the 100Meg that the EE rigs use and automatically connect up to the 1GB other items use. Treat your network , Radios and other items like there in a Business environment network configuration- and you'll be better off.
If you do have a Green switch / Router and it is a MANGED switch TURN off the Green/ Power saver option, Managed switches are great, but probably overkill for most users when it comes to configuration of them, if managed give priority to your RADIO and Computer
I also look for switches and routers which have INTERNAL POWER connections- the type where the AC plug is directly on the unit itself instead of using a wall wart- you'd be surprised at times the noise these cheap wall warts produce and now you're injecting that crap on your network with a radio connection it' can act like one big antenna!
If its a Business class series router/switch your chances are very good that performs issues will be minimal
If its a basic home user/consumer grade router/switch then your chances of having problems has GONE UP!
