I'm getting a weird static/power/audio crash with ExpertSDR3. Attached is the spectrum (see the red line). This doesn't happen with Expert SDR2. And this also happens when the antenna isn't connected, so i am thinking it's a bug somewhere in the firmware or compatbiity bettween the current firmware and expertsdr3.

Actually this might be solved -- i updated using the latest EESDR 2 software the firmware on the SUnSDR2 DX and it seems to have gone away on the EESDR3. Will repost if i see it again.

This is most likely due to marginal latency between your radio and the client computer. What happens is when packet latency rises for any reason, it causes a glitch in the new streaming protocol and the result is a pop or a click - which is what you see in that red line. EESDR2 uses the older protocol so it does not have this problem.

I see this red line anomaly all the time also.
It is not clear to me what the original poster updated to solve this.
"Marginal latency"? I am running on quite a high end PC that typically shows CPU usage of 2 - 5% when running ExpertSDR3.
It also has a very high end video card, so I would not suspect that this PC would exhibit any unusual latency.
What is the fix?

Network latency has more to do with your LAN connection rather than the CPU itself. For instance, you can be using a top-end CPU and connecting via WiFi which tends to have higher latency and could cause the above said problems. It depends on the nature of your network connection - what kinds of NIC, switches, routers, LAN/WiFi/VPN, etc.

Also, if running through router and Switch, overall network use by other devices can play a role as well

If possible, on your switch/router if available assign Higher priorities to needed devices could help but depends on what type of devices you're using and if QOS or the like is available, this is where managed type switches are of a good use

I understand that there can be network latencies independent of an individual PC's performance capability.
The real point here is that this behavior is unique to ExpertSDR3. I have never seen this on ExpertSDR2.
I am using a direct wired connection (not wi-fi) with short cables (<10') from both the SDR2 DX and the PC to the router.
There are very few devices on the network at any given time. Maximum load would be 2 PC's, an iPad, and a phone.
I don't believe my router offers priority based settings, but I will look into that more closely.

To verify either network or possible DPC latency: try setting your spectrum view to a smaller sample and see if it disappears or goes away.

V3 from what Danielwee and I have found even though the resource levels in use show lower on the CPU and GPU cores, the network latency is higher than in V2.
Wireshark can be your friend to watch this.

we have mentioned this several times in the GitHub Bug tracker and some progress has been made, but it still needs to work in that area. It is still Alpha/Beta software and room for improving as it progresses
