Rick thanks for the video review of the program . I noticed on your video that the Mic meters indicator does not correctly show the RMS and PEAK values, try to set the microphone gain control to zero dB, apply Zero dB to the input from an external sound generator and go through the MIC meter scale measuring the supplied values, RMS values should be calculated using the PEAK * 0.707 formula, it will be correct RMS values

Have the meter's been fixed in 0.13 for proper accuracy ?

Yes, Rick, I wrote about this problem to the company, they promised to fix it, they didn't fix it! You, as a tester, point out an error in the program! Indicate an error in the Boost indicator this indicator (at the same time Boost gain should be TURNED OFF during comparison) does not match the Mic meters indication PEAK mode

Nothing new ... It all has Flex for now.. Have you tested the full duplex, limiter and pure signal?

I am still mainly running V2 on my MB1 as it is stable but do run v3 beta versions to test when I can.
Too me all of the metering in V3 needs to be calibrated because currently the readings are not accurate.
Also some kind of indicator like an ALC meter or light to let the user know when they are over-driving the transceivers internal PA/Rf Amp would be very helpful.

Keep up the GREAT work your team is doing under these difficult times!

Rick,

Very good video and explanation of things to come.
However, there was one item that was passed over.
At ~28 sec into the video, the 3rd tab down, you show the Pass band settings.
There was the "PA " which was not explained.
Could you give a brief description of its functions?

Tom, thank you , to clarify if you select the PA option here in the section you pointed out then?

you will notice that the PA option button on V3 is not shown, and that if you open the BAND Manager panel the PA option and check box per band is available in the Band Manager settings tab

If you Unselect then the PA option Save by Band option then you will need to use the PA button to trigger the Keyline for an amplifier, and then you DO not have the PA check box option in Band manager, thus you must choice to click the PA button on or off each time-

PANOTselectedinoptions.jpg

Also in that section the USE in TUNE means use the PA in Tune Mode in other words key amp when you select TUNE on software

I prefer using Band Manger and thus I have the Option USE per Band enabled then in Band Manager I can select just what Bands I want the engage the Keyline in TX mode to trigger my AMP, Note in my Screen shot showing the PA option enabled and in Band Mager the PA check box example 160 isn't checked I don't have room for a 160 antenna so I don't want the Amp to accidentally trigger if I select 160..

PAseletecinOptions.jpg

Since I don't have antennas tuned for some bands and my AMP is manually tuned, I can avoid an accidental triggering of the AMP by NOT selecting the PA option for that band in band manager

see attached screen shots

No it is closer but still not correct

I also think there is something in a new AGC limiter function that is cause of improper MIC metering being shown

Example you can turn up Mic input gain but you'll fight like hell to get it over 0 db, but you can sure as hell distort the input gain so you know it is beyond 0 threshold

Who knows, it's been a long waiting game. I just hope this version has all the functions of V2 because it was lacking in a big way.

Hello Igor

Yes, but I think the formula: Urms = Upeak * 0.707 is only valid for sinusoidal voltages.
However, an audio signal is a mixture of countless signals and is therefore far away from a sinusoidal shape.
Since the audio signal is in digital form, it shouldn't be a problem to correctly calculate both the rms and the peak value in a time interval.

I can tell you that it is still in testing phases with DEV group

So why can't we all use and play with 0.13 while the testers do there testing with the understanding that there is more to be done and no one complain if if doesn't work the way we think it should. That is the job of the testers to point out.

On obvious reason: EE is setting the rules here. They have tested few dev-test options and chosen the way which suits them most to achieve their targets.

But do not worry. Testers are, actually, not in advance position. It is quite vice versa, TBH:: they are first to be dissapointed, because they see all the bugs first and then have to wait (same as youself) while bugs are fixed
