Hello,

I use a SunSDR2 Pro, and before that i had a Heil ProSet Elite, used on different TRX (FT2000, IC7300, FT3000) without problems. Now i noticed that i have to push the Mic controller to full output (70dB) or use a compressor (which doesn't sound so good in the monitor) - but i still have a low SSB output. I see it on the SWR Crossneedle - when i talk on a normal volume, the output isn't above 100 watts (let me explain - i push a HLA300V to around 50 Watts to use it as a driver PA for a Ameritron AL811H - no problems with this setup, and full output on CW...). So there's a lot missing for breaking a pileup with this microphone (it's equal if i use Mic1 or Mic2 with a adapter for it).
How could i rise the mic volume so that there is a "normal" SSB output. I know, it's possible, but at the moment i don't find the screw to turn to solve the problem.

Sven

Hi, Sven.
I assume you use ProSet Elite-IC.
If you use ProSet Elite-IC with electret mic, it requires DC supply, which can only be acquired from Mic1 connector. You should use Mic stereo jack: the first and second pins are shorted, the third is GND.
If you use ProSet Elite-6, it has a dynamic Mic and should be connected to the Mic2 connector.

Hello again,

I use a "normal" ProSet Elite - HC6 but not the IC version.
I had no problems on other rigs before. But it's equal if i use MIC1 or 2 (with adapter) - it is too weak - i stopped calling with it in the contest and use my KX3. There it's good enough to get heard.
I tried with different Mic gains from middle to max setting, comp on or not...
The time before i used the rig mainly on cw, and when the band is silent, it's ok to get a dx on ssb also, but for contest use it's too weak :-(

What could you recommend? I must get it louder but with clear audio to get heard...

Hi, Sven.
Should be used MIC2 input.
Enable Mic-meter: right click on the S-Meter->TX-> Mic-meter and look what's max level of your long "a-a-a-a-lo".
It should be about -11 dB...-5 dB.
If yes, the mic is enough for this radio.
What level do you have?

Hello :-)

I still search for a solution. Changing the Treshold doesn't bring me output power... i could go up to -90dB, also 70dB Mic Gain on Mic2. I could try activating the compressor... But - when i speak at a normal level into my headset, the power doesn't rise above 100 Watts on my CN801 SWR Meter - (after a KXPA100 as driver and AL811H as main Amp.). When i switch to my KX3 i have no problems with the same headset - 50dB there and my amp jumps easily to a lot more.
I still have the strong feeling that i could shout in a pile (like today TN5E on 15) for 1-2 hours without getting trough. With my old rigs, a FT2000 or a Flex3000, i only needed a few minutes for most of the time.
It doesn't make sense to raise the compressor, put the treshold and mic gain all to the max and drive out more than 30% of the power - i only get the driver PA (KXPA100) to stop working and blinking ATT...

So at the moment i don't think it makes sense to go into a ssb contest...

Does anybody have the same headset (Heil ProSet Elite, normal mic - not icom) and could give me the necessary parameters which i should try?

Hi Rome,

I am using SunSDR2 DX and Heil ProSet IC, will the connector Jack that comes with SunSDR2 DX work by simply by connecting my ProSet IC to Mic1?
Or if I need something else? Thanks in advanced
