I am seeing a quirk on my SDR2DX that has got me confused. When starting the radio cold and attempting to transmit CW my output power on the screen and my Bird 43 tells me it is about 2 watts, sometimes 5 watts even though the Drive slider is 100%.

Sliding the Drive slider down to zero then back up to 100% gives me full output and it stays there regardless of what band I am selecting. It will remain fully functional unless I power the radio and software down again - then repeats only 2 to 5 watts output. on fresh startup.

I'm using V1.3.1 Update 11 on a Dell Intel i7 16 Gb. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software to no avail. Have also tried it using a Dell M7 laptop with V1.3.1 u/d 11 with the same results.

I have downloaded ESSDR3 0.12 and it does not do this

My V 1.3.1 Update 11 does the same. Low watts out until you slide the drive slider back and forth. In my view, it is no more than annoyance.
Low power output, however, is another story and that I wish I could fix. My rig is delivering between 75 and 85 watts of output.

Nick

Thanks for passing this information along. I thought I was the only one having this issue. Yes, an annoyance but I can live with it.

I am seeing between 80 to 95 watts output depending on what band I am operating. Power supply measured at the power pole on the back of the radio is 13.7 VDC.

I noticed that when driving my ACOM amp that 40w driving the amp would sneak down to about 34 to 36w after a minute of sending CW and accordingly my 400w output from the amp was down to about 360w. I found that with my hand on the glass fuse was feeling heat - as in voltage drop. I replaced the fuse holder with a 30A blade fuse and holder with #10 stranded leads. I still see a bit of a power drop but it is negligible. I have read the threads on the screen voltage in Rx and Tx. My screen shows 13.3 in Rx and 12.6 in Tx. It used to show 12.3 in Tx before I changed the fuse holder.

Hi Nick, can you post a photo of the fuse holder in the radio?

I think I will have to open the radio. Let me know what am I looking for there? A particular type or condition of the fuse holder?
Thanks and 73

Sorry if I caused any confusion.

I replaced the fuse and fuse holder on the power cord. NOT inside the SDR2
