I have not found any topic yet dealing with automatic audio mute function via Omnirig.
In a setup with two separate SDR's one piece of hardware is usually used for TX, the other one for RX monitoring (same and or different band) .
Omnirig is able to notice PTT activation - and for example - could "automute" the audio output from the monitoring Rx (it may also reduce RF gain)
I used such a function sucessful with Omnirig in combination with SDR console muting automatically a RSP1 (used as moniroring RX)
When I use my SUNSDR as monitoring Rx (Trx) I get audio output which seem to cause some feedback (noise) on the TX audio signal of the primary transmitter via the PC sound card.
Rx input to 2nd Rx is of course protected from overload by grounding the Rx signal path
