First: If you are using 2 network interfaces as in either example below

You Have 2 Physical Network cards one for internet and One from Radio

Or your using WIFI for internet and you have the radio plugged into a psychical Network Card

Set the Network Card which is controlling the Radio as a 1st Priority
a nice step by step to do this is here: www.ghacks.net/2016/12/02/change-network-adapter-priorities-in-windows-10/#:~:text=Step%201%3A%20Tap%20on%20the%20Windows-key%2C%20type%20ncpa.cpl,This%20opens%20the%20properties%20window%20of%20the%20adapter.

Remember to change all other Network Interfaces that are NOT in USE by the RIG to a Higher Priority then 1

Another improvement may help but it involves editing the Windows Registry so proceed with caution and make a backup of the registry before hand!

The following Tweak comes from the Multiplayer Gaming folks
hange this setting you need to run the Registry Editor (regedit), then find the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile

In that key you should find a registry value of type REG_DWORD called NetworkThrottlingIndex. It will have a default value of 0000000a in hexidecimal notation, which is 10 in decimal notation.

Double click on that value, change it to ffffffff (eight "f"s), click OK, close the Registry Editor, and reboot. (NOTE the f's are all in LOWER CASE)

either or both of the above may help with Audio dropouts

I've had this this issue and I'm trying it out. Seems to only happen during vox but 99 % of my operation is vox. I've never had do it on FT8 com port keying. My issues manifest itself in a freeze in transmit (stops) on SSB VOX. VOX dropout restores transmit. I'll post here if this fixes my issue. Thanks

Trying not to beat a not so dead horse. A fellow ham (K6TWO) and I have tried the fix presented by N8SDR and thought it may have done the trick.
Unfortunately, it did not. The screen freeze audio chop is still here.
Bill, K6TWO tried loading the Expert software on a Win7 CPU and found it to have no screen freeze or audio chop. So it appears that there is still something that Win 10 doesn't like.

Using VOX with 160ms Timeout to RX and a Mic Threshold of -60db

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Hi guys!

I know its a quit old thread but i f have found a solution at my side. I am running here a 2Pro and a 2DX. The 2Pro displays the IF from my K3 for Skimmer and bigger spectrum.
I only get the crackling/audio dropouts/splitches (or what ever called here) when the 2DX´s sample rate is higher as the lowest setting (39062.5). The 2Pro is fully set to the highest sample rate 321500. I will order a separate networkcard and test it again. I don´t think it will wash the problem away. I think this i a codec problem in ExpertSDR or the 2DX himself.

The 39kHz mode uses the least bandwidth of all the other settings so it has less data load on your network card.

Not at all.

The described config is (and will remain) valid for ESDR2.

ESDR3 (a0.12) does kind of override it, due to ESDR<->SS communication core was completely rebuild. Hence it should (in theory) eliminate workarounds. However the testing of 0.12 just begun...
