Lol, these claim they are simple, but they do seem a little trick trying to mesh them with the MB1.
So far I have had Audacity play an MP3 both ways, from the MB1 to Hamzilla and Hamizilla back to the MB1. It has a way to adjust the latency so I was able to get both to play in sync on both the send and the receive device.
I was also able to get DM780 to receive audio from the MB1 and use it to decode messages. I will have to work a bit more to get DM780 Audio from Hamzilla back to the MB1 to transmit.
I also need to look at the MB1 CPU while using Full Duplex to get an idea of worse case CPU usage.
VB Audio also has a lot of other interesting software with possibilities. On my old Anan rig I used to process the audio via two separate DAWs on Hamizilla with great success. One DAW for Transmit and one for Receive, both enabled with some very cool VST plugins (some were capable of advanced noise reduction - others were handy in providing scopes and EQs to shape send and receive audio). The goal here is to see if VBAN can replace the hardwires and at least one of the DAWs (transmit) using some of the other cool VB Audio software.
Since DM780 worked so well on receive I think I can at least be rid of the hardwires to the MB1. This is nice for reducing interference, eliminating isolators and ferrites on the cabling if your wondering why I am bothering. not to mention reducing the rats nest of cables.
More on this project as it evolves. I need to knuckle down now and figure this out and get transmit working.
I had this all working today, at least with digital modes and DM780 both ways, XMit and Rec. Then I broke it somehow, lol, and am fixing it. Anyways, I didn't find a user manual for it until I googled for one, so in case your interested, here it is.
