Dear OMs,

I am a very, very new SunSDR2 Pro user (1 week old).
I just wanted  to share with you and to confirm to you one interesting solution which might help
Microham STATION MASTER and/or Ultrabeam/Steppir users.:

Yes, Station Master can be connected to SunSDR2 Pro, so it can control Ultrabeam and/or Steppir Antennas (and rotors and various other things)
. :good:

I have a bit complicated system: Ultrabeam and Yaesu Rotor connected to Station Master and Station Master to PC and of course SunSDR2 Pro to PC.
I wanted to have a system, where I can “tune” Ultrabeam, either from ExpertSDR OR from my logging program (UCXLog, HRD) and can also control rotor from log program (DX cluster).

With the help and kind advices  of Björn SM0MDG :good: and  Jozef OM7ZZ (of Microham) I could do it!
If you need similar system, you will need following:

-Microham cable CAT RS232-YX ("crossed” cable) this cable connects PC to Station Master
-either RS232 connector on your PC or in my case a Prolific USB-to-Serial adapter
-VSPE or other virtual port program

In VPSE I created „Virtual Connector” in my case COM6.
ExpertSDR is connected to COM6 and also my log program is connected to COM6.
Than -again in VSPE- I created a „Serial Redirector” connecting COM6 to COM5 (which is address of USB-to-Serial adapter.
So basically ExpertSDR emulates a Kenwood TS-480 for Station Master.
Do not forget to set physical jumpers in Station Master for RS232 and also in Station Master software setting Kenwood TS480.
I also found out I needed to download Prolific Windows 10 driver and „Stock” WIN10 drivers did not work,

Dear Don,

The CAT port of SM does not matter, why:
1.) The most important is that EESDR software send band data (in my case to COM3)
2.) On COM3 port a Microham cable CAT RS232-YX is connected (with an USB - RS232 converter) and this cable is connected to Station Master. So here I am sending data from PC to SM
3.) The SM CAT router page is showing what band data is "coming" from SM.

Hi
I have the same configuration. USB-Serial adapter is identified in system as physical COM8. I do not know how to redirect this port to any virtual port to linked it with ExpertSDR because ExpertSDR does not see physical port, just vistual Coms.
Can someone help me?

You need no redirection, you can connect physical and virtual com ports in ExpertSDR2

The Yellow one are all physical ports, the other one virtuell from Com0Com Tool

Hi Thilo,

you are right. Your answer is correct. I have made mistake in my description:
My problem is with StationMaster from Microham. Right description is: I would like to use ExpertSDR, Station Master from Microham to control antenna switch and N1MM+ together. I have USB-Serial adapter which is identified in system as physical COM8. COM side of USB-Serial adapter is connected to CAT connector of StationMaster (It is RS232 port). I do not know how to redirect port COM8 to virtual port to linked it with Mcroham StationMaster because Microham Device Router, which is used for StastionMaster configuration, does not see physical COM ports, just virtual Coms.
Can someone help and provide info about configuration in details?

For any CAT controlled external device, think only of supplying CAT data to the relevant COM port. Don't be concerned with what sees what. With COM 8 needing CAT data there are 2 ways - a complicated way and an easy way.

The complicated way, especially if you also need the same CAT data to go somewhere else like a logbook or radio, is to use VSPE software. Examples of use are in the UMA, section 3. It will provide CAT to your COM 8 and to a virtual port for use with N1MM and radio interfacing.

The easy way is to use SDC and utilise ESDR2's TCI. This will send CAT to any port or multiple ports, real or virtual. See UMA section 4.9 where the picture shown is of my own USB serial adapter COM 16 but it is just the same as your COM 8. The advantage is that there is no port splitting or redirecting and you can use simple virtual port software instead of the more complex VSPE. The number of ports that TCI can feed CAT data to is unlimited. Just create additional PA Controls in the SDC PA tab.

Erik.

Hi,

In my setup I used to use many virtual ports, but now simply I do following:
In ExpertSDR I select the COM port of the USB-RS232 and that is it.
The USB-RS232 is connected to Station Master with "Microham cable CAT RS232-YX"
Than all other software like UCXlog logger is connected to the "2nd CAT" virtual port which is created by Microham program.
On thing you need to set correct baud rate, if in ExpertSDR you set 19200 (whatever) you need to set same in Device in Windows Control Panel for the USB-RS232 port and
also the same 19200 (or whatever) in Microham program.

I think your problem that you want to connect something to Station Master RS232 port BUT you sould connect to CAT 3.5mm Jack socket of the Station Master preferably with
"Microham cable CAT RS232-YX".

But I found this on Internet myabe you can make your own cable.

Hi,

I made a screen capture of my settings. (Note: here I do NOT use virtual ports towards Station Master).

Thank you all of you for your assistance. I have moved significantly ahead. First mistake was with my own CAT RS232-YX cable. Now I will test your recommendation how to connect ExpertSDR SW, N1MM and Microham together.
