Hi,

I'd like to know is there any opportunity to make connections to a SunSDR radio by multiple clients, ExpertSDR's at the same time - if the necessary bandwidth, etc. are available.

Separate controlling of the radio from all site (2..4) would be nice, but we'd need at least a main site and a second one where the second, independent receiver of the same SunSDR radio (on the same band) is available for listening to, and its frequency to be changed up and down.

It is perfectly acceptable if such capability is too much to be put in the radio, and a separate PC has to be installed at the remote site to serve the clients. Are the TCP/IP communication protocol of transferring the I/Q signals, CW keying, etc. documented and publicly available? We have some capabilities to write code as well if inevitable. :-)

The reason of these questions: multiple clients to one transceiver for ham operation is usually an unsupported way of usage that is strange to me concerning that we should not be the only radio club wanting to use a transceiver remotely as a team for contests, or just for DX-ing. :-)

Thank you.

Hi, Tibor.
At the moment you can use our transceivers this way - eesdr.com/images/Document/Block_Diagram_SO2V%20with%20SDC_ENG.pdf
With full integration of TCI in 5MContest and LogHX, this process is easier than presented on the diagram.

After the release of the new firmware with Duplex support and then its proper implementation in ExpertSDR3, you'll be able to use each software RX by different clients.

Thank you for the very fast response, Rome, I'm going to process the diagram. :-)

Roman

Would it even be possible to sync one or more remote Colibries to a SunSDR - TX ;-) ?? With SunSDR3-software
That would be amazing !!

HI, Tilman.
Yes, it'll be possible to sync a Colibri receiver with a SunSDR transceiver in ExpertSDR3, though this function won't be available at launch.
In 2021 our main goal is to fill in the ExpertSDR3 with the functionality of ExpertSDR2 and then add new features.
Some new features like transverters or remote functionality we'll be available from the start.

So, after my last question, we are still in planning. There are some important points to consider, sorry for the slight indiscretion. :-)

1. Does the SunSDR2 (DX) capable of everything we were speaking of regarding to the second receiver and multiple remote controlling after a firmware upgrade, or will the hardware be replaced by a newer model anytime soon?
2. Will these functions be included in the rado's firmware and EESDR3 - if not at the beginning, perhaps in just a few months?
3. One more: in case if there will be not implemented and not planned functions we need, how deep the necessary API's will be available for programmers to create third-party software to (fully) remote control the radio on TCP/IP?

Thank you.

1. Please clarify, what exactly do you mean? I can confirm everything that I've stated in my previous posts.

2. The possibility of syncing a receiver with a transceiver will be implemented in the firmware and then the software of the currently sold devices.

3. That is an even more complicated question on one hand, who knows what you might need tomorrow?
And simple on the other hand, no API is available for ESDR3, BUT there is a TCI with an open-source protocol, you can use it to connect your software to ESDR3 and control it from your software.
If you'll need some particular functions to be added to TCI you tell us and we add them.

Thank you for the answers, Rome. Certainly, our need was intended to be understable, it is just distributed between my posts' words, so it might not have been instantly recognizable, sorry.

Your answers help anyway, but before continuing, I need to get familiar with TCI's current capabilities, it's going to take some days again.
