I recently received the SunSdr2 Dx Transceiver and have been using SDR2 exclusively.
Then I saw SDR3 and how much improved the GUI was, so off I went.
With the SDR3 Alpha available I also wanted to attempt to use the newly designed Remote capability.
I struggled for a week, on and off, but with some expert help from both Roman and a close CPU knowledgeable individual, connection was finally made between a laptop (Client) 300 Mi away and my (Server) home station.

Attached is my procedure used, rewritten from those provided by EESDR, "ERS – Expert Remote system 2021"

In short, the Server just needs to run the " Starter.exe " Pgm and the Client just uses one of the two suggested Option URL's.

It doesn't work for me.

I have connected the SunSDR2 DX directly to my laptop via an USB-C<->LAN adapter.

I can start "starter" but if i try connecting i.e via my phone or the web via a different network starter.exe just stops.

Should starter.exe be in the same folde as EESDR3?
I have also tried this when EESDR3 is started on the "server" laptop running starter.

I also tried the Linux version of EESDR3 but this doesnt start. (ubuntu 20)

I have tested with win10 where i have changed permissions for starter and cell to have admin permissions. But I have not been able to connect.
Have tried two win10 laptops.

Starting the server software on linux after changing permission i can log in with a web browser. Nice gui.

So why its not working for me on windows is a mystery.
Anyhow seems promising and i hope that later when we are out of alpha/beta its possible to run i.e FT8 via a module remote.

It would be nice if we could manually input the radio's IP and not have this software solely depend on being able to discover the radio with broadcast traffic.
Current set up: SunSDR2 DX, HiFi audio, Alpha Delta DX-CC up 20 feet.

Actually the new V3 remote is a cloud service,

You only run the starter after you have the PC running with the V3

You create your login account
then on second PC at remote location you simply run V3 as well click the little dots on the right side of the chooser panel until you see Remote, then input your user name and credentials

Make sure you follow the STARTER.EXE instructions were you input your user and password as described or it will not allow connection/

The starter does not have to be in same folder, but you must have V3 running to begin with

if you follow the instructions it is very simple
Please do not email me and ask for help I no longer will be part of this, If I could delete /remove my profile I would do so.

Hello
Some comments about my test ERS2021 and Remote.

i have tried again the ERS 2021 with the alpha version 0.10.0
i have a sunsdr2 Pro.
i have the waterfall/spectrum that freezes at time as well as the sound.
(see joined file taken on the fly with my phone)

1.If i use the RDP from Windows 10 in the same network conditions, no problem with the audio and the waterfall, and i can transmit and i have all the possibilities of the SunSDR2 Pro.
2.If i use the old ERS (server and client) and the same conditions, no problem also and i can transmit on A3 only (i can not receive on A2 with a Beverage connected, it's a problem for me when i work DX)
In the two cases i setup a port with TCP only (no UDP).
With UDP i have the same problem like with ERS2021

At the QTH where i have the Sunsdr2 Pro, my adsl upload useful is only about 500kb/s (0.5 mb/s).

At this time i use every day the RDP from Windows 10 to realize DX QSOs
You can follow my activity on the cluster if you want.

Hello Richard
'your message' : that's exactly what I did!

when i try the ERS2021 (locally) on the same network, it's OK

but when i am at home (5 kms away) it's unusable due to the freeze

check you mail, i have sent to you the video with audio and waterfall /spectrum freezing time to time

I saw your email

I have no issues here and have let friend's login as well.
but my internet speed is very good at 800+ meg down and 140+ meg up

friends who have connected and used both the V3 software or the HTML browser have had very smooth results with no dropouts and almost instant response.
Keep in mind it will come down too your internet and routing devices.

The Cloud server is Nothing more than a Hand off after checking Authentication / credentials match after which the connect between your physical radio and your remote is direct (with exception of any routers or hops taken by internet along the path).

If I recall you mentioned speed is less then 1/2 a meg at one of the locations (the site where radio is maybe) I don't recall. Personally, I wouldn't use a remote connection with that rate you asking for issues, and yes, I saw you said you don't have that if you use windows remote or some other option.

Are you using some cell service for internet or a hotspot? Because some of them do have priorities over what type of traffic gets passed and takes priority over others

I hate slow connections and trying to remote for clients to fix issues, I'd rather drive for 2 hours and resolve it, then fight for 3+ hours and not make much progress.
Please do not email me and ask for help I no longer will be part of this, If I could delete /remove my profile I would do so.

For the Linux version, you need to run it from the terminal. You can't just click on it.

1. Open up a terminal
2. cd to the directory where you have the starter files extracted
3. make sure config.json contains your correct login information
4. then execute "./run.sh"

That should start the thing running. In case the script does not have execute permission, you will need to give it execute permission using "sudo chmod +x run.sh" and whatever else that needs it as well.

Like others, I also cannot seem to get the Windows version of starter.exe working. It runs but will crash/stop after a few seconds.

I am no Linux expert, but I had to do a chmod +x also on the binary files that is a part of the Starter package to make it work on my Ubuntu 21.10 system.
