I'm asking myself the same question.

I am running both an automatic antenna switch, and a tuner. Both rely on CAT. I wrote myself a simple TCI <-> CAT interface which runs really fine as long as I am at home.

Unfortunately, TCI information comes from the EESDR2 (or EESDR3) programs running on my local computer at home, because they contain the TCI servers.

When I run EESDR2 or EESDR3 remotely, however, my TXI <-> CAT interface program running on my home computer is not able to retrieve the frequency information that it needs to control my antenna switch and my tuner because of the missing local TCI server.
What I needed was a solution that provides TCI information coming from my remote EESDR2/3 programs that can be retrieved on my home computer.

All this is not a problem at all as long as I directly connect my remote EESDR instance to my local area network at home through a VPN connection.
But if I do so, I won't need the Expert remote solution at all.

What I would like to have was a solution where the starter.exe (or another) program provided the TCI server information, instead of the EESDR2 / 3 program that's currently connected to my SunSDR2 SX hardware (no matter if or if not connected remotely or directly). This way, other programs that interface to local devices such as tuners, switches or whatsoever would function even when controlling the hardware remotely.

What I did was build a bridging device using an ESP32 board. This device will discover which network machine is running EESDR and latch to it to read the TCI frequency, translate it to CAT and send that to the SPE 1.3K amplifier for the ATU tracking. It does other things as well but this works. For remoting, I VPN into the network so my remote client appears on the network, which is then detected by the bridge device and everything works nicely.

Yes, precisely,
As long as you use VPN instead of the Expert Remote Solution, it's all fine.
But you still depend on being able to set up a VPN connection to your home LAN.
If ERS allowed for several "client" connections at the same time and synchronized all of them, this woulld as well overcome the problem.
Just as RCForb does.
Your solution with the ESP board sounds great. I just used a piece of software on my home server, instead. It is running 24/7, so it was the easiest way, anyway.
