My CW SkimServer generates lower dB values compared to the CW Skimmer.
If I run the SkimServer only, the dB values are between -1db and 15db.
If I run the ExpertSDR2 software with the CW Skimmer, the db values are about 10dB-15dB stronger compared to the SkimServer.

Any idea why?

Sounds like the difference is in the range of a preamp on/off difference. Are you running them parallel or did you compare with different preamp settings?

Colibri SDR & CW Skimmer Server - low dB values 16 Oct 2016 16:13 #3

Any idea why there are higher values reported by CW skimmer in this case?
I have one CW Skimmer Server connected to a loop antenna and it gives normal values like 4 - 30 db for spots.
Now I'm using also SunSDR2 PRO, with CWSkimmer (the main antenna is connected to the SunSDR2 PRO)
CWSkimmer is reporting some values like 140-160 dB which I think is not normal, checking them on the interface, they have lower strength compared with let's say spots with +10-20dB
Using only CWSkimmer Server spots I can sort them based on signal strength but the spots coming from SunSDR2PRo & CWSkimmer having these strange values cannot be used for sorting.
As I aggregate all spots this means I cannot use this sort feature, dB spot values coming from SunSDR2 PRO & CWSkimmer are useless.
Any ideea ?

Thanks
