Hi all,

Using:
SunSdr2PRO with EESDR 1.3.1 Review 9
Colibri with EESDR 1.3.1 Review 9
ExpertSync

Colibri is synchronized with SunSdr2 PRO, but very frequently the stream is interupted...see picture in attachment.

When I run standalone Colibri, the problem is the same.

Anyone have a similar problem?

Regards

Hi Richard.
It usually means that the connection to the device (ColibriDDC in your case) is unreliable, maybe it's the switch or LAN cable or router or some software, which is blocking data from the receiver to the ESDR2.
Please try to use the receiver by directly connecting it to your PC. Try another PC.

Hi Roman,

Yes, direct connection is working fine. Tried to replace LAN switch, cables, PC. The same problem. I have SunSdr2PRO on the same switch and I never had such a problem. Running on the same PC and same switch in parallel and the problem is with Colibri only. Also changing the cables with SunSdr2PRO did not help.

But I found very interesting problem during the testing. One PC in the network stoped working via LAN and I found, that the PC with Win10 have IP address next to Colibri and Colibri address as a gateway. This looks like on Colibri running some kind of DHCP services...any idea?

Hi, Richard.
If the direct connection works fine, then the issue is in some other way of connection or part of a more complex system, I'm sure you understand that.

You are correct about DHCP, ColibriDDC has several networks modes, you can read more about it in the UM, section 3.3.1.4 - eesdr.com/images/Document/ColibriDDC_eng/ColibriDDC_User_Manual_ENG.pdf
Try to set a Static IP for DDC.

Hi Roman,

Yes, I tried several options. Direct connection too. Static IP and also DHCP. Reset did not help. Tried also another 3 PCs. Still the same problem. Tried also new installed PC with direct connection to Colibri. Btw, on some PCs is the the problem more frequent.

Maybe it is not a connection problem?

Hi, Richard.
Let's get back to square one, please make sure all your devices are in the same subnet, have a static IP address, and different ports, e.g. DDC is on 192.168.16.200 with 50001 (and 50002) ports and SS2PRO is on 192.168.16.230 with 50005 (and 50006) ports. All our devices use two ports, indicated one and plus one. PC is on 192.168.16.50.

Hi Roman,

After long testing I found the problem. It's temperature issue. When is cold, it's OK. With BPF and in box the temperature is rising up. With unboxed and BPF removed is less frequent, but still persist.

So, the question is, whats now...

Hi, Richard.
Please send us a short video of the issue, when DDC connected directly to the PC.

Hi Roman,

Here is the video...it's made after about 20 minutes after radio ON. When starts, everything is OK, no problem to use it for about 10 minutes, after that is slowly started this outage...let me see, once per 10 seconds...than it is slowly growing and after 20 minutes is what you see on video.

Compter is fast enough...with SunSdr2PRO are no problems...

Hi Roman,

now tested with ESDR3...the same result.

Tried to use fan to make it cooler and it helps. Now it's working without any problems. But this is not a solution :(

Hi Roman,

I placed the heatsink on the receiver and it helps a lot...last 24 hour without any problems. But anyway, it's something wrong or there is a thermal dependency in any part of radio.

Hi, Richard.
It's something we've never heard of before.
Probably something is wrong with the hardware, but since it's never happened before I can't point out where the issue might be.
Just to make sure we are on the same page, it happens with DDC connected directly to PC or via router?
Do you have any third-party software connected to ESDR2?
Could you please check network activity while DDC is working? It also looks like chunks of the stream are missing.

Hi Roman,
Yes, it independent on the type of connection, direct or via router. No difference.
Tried it on 4 PCs with Win10, One PC was blank installation. Still the same.
I also monitored the LAN response in system monitoring...this is interesting.

1. Monitoring the LAN with heatsing and no problems...still flat response.
2. Removing heatsing speed up heating.
3. After 10 minutes it starts with outage.
4. The interruption has no impact on LAN communication.

IMPORTANT!!!

I tried another test...based on the fact, that there is no problem on LAN communication, I tried to switch OFF tha AGC.

File Attachment:

File Name: AGC_OFF.zip
File Size: 1,734 KB

With different AGC setting is also reaction spectrum different. With only strongel/longer pulses are break line generated on spectrum. Now it looks like there is a problem in RF part.

Tried to cover Colibri with piece of rag and the temperature is rising and the pulses are more frequent...pls look file HI_TEMP.mov
