Hello,

if I use "Line Out" to save my audio as a wave file, the audio is completely overdriven. When I set the microphone gain to 0db, I can hear my voice again, but there is a loud crackling/crackling in the recording.

Unfortunately, the monitor function is also not usable because of disturbing noises (tested with 3 headphones) and the audio sounds completely distorted compared to "VOICE REC & TX PLAY".

Is there already a solution for this?

I use the SunSDR2 DX for about 14 days now. 1x per day the software crashes. The possibility to adjust the tune power (for an automatic tuner, 10 watts at least) separately, or that the Drive & Tune power in % at 100 watts would be at least a little bit right (10% = 0.5 watts??, 44% = 18 watts??). Also the output power in the Power Meter is unfortunately displayed incorrectly and much too low.

I use the current version Update 6 for macOS. The microphone is connected to Mic2.

Thanks in advance

Mathias, DD5MD

hi Mathias,

the tune function and the power control is a lot of crap. Nothing works there. Please post here about Tune Bug:

HI, Mathias.
1. Thanks for the report of the issue with Line Out, we'll check it out this week.
2. Regarding the distorted audio in monitoring, could you please send us a recording.
3. Output power for Drive and Tune is not linear, it varies depending on the band. In this case, we recommend to set max output power per band in the power correction menu: Options-> Device-> Expert tab-> power correction.

Hello Rome,

thank you for the quick response.

Enclosed 2 wav files. One file was recorded with 15% micgain and the other file was recorded with 0% micgain.

If I reduce the power under "Options -> Device -> Expert tab -> power correction" e.g. at the 10m band to 10 watts, up to 35 watts of power go to the power amplifier at "100% Drive". From 13 watts control power on my power amplifier switches into error mode. With "100% Tune" 23 watts instead of 10 watts go to my tuner. My tuner may only be controlled with a maximum of 20 watts.

HI, Mathias.
Thanks for the files, it sounds like incorrect settings of the PROC menu.
Please follow the suggestions in the video made by our head engineer

I think it is not the settings in the "PROC" menu. The overdriven audio is exclusively in the wav-file saved by line-out.

My personal opinion, not shared by EE I should make clear because I informed them of it some time ago without any change being made, is that there is too much gain in the Line Out. I compensate by feeding it through Muzychenko VAC, enabling volume control on the VAC line, which gives it access to the Windows Mixer where I reduce the gain by 20dB. However as I say whilst this works for me it might be useless in your case and anyway doesn't change the fact that the Line Out is over-driven in my opinion and I would therefore be surprised if the PROC menu had any bearing on it.

I do note that you are conferring with Roman who knows best and I should not interfere; just that I wanted to share my experience.

Hello, Erik,

first of all, thanks for your tip.

I use the Loopback program on my Macbook. Basically very similar to the Muzychenko VAC.

Unfortunately, reducing the gain did not have the same effect on me. Maybe I did something wrong.

Could you possibly make me a screenshot of your Sound card & VAC settings.

Thanks a lot!

I understand. I am on Windows so probably it is different. Sound card has no useful settings to show you. All I can show is how it is by default:

sound.png

As you can see it is maxed out and the output is distorted.

In VAC any VAC line can be made to access the Windows mixer so on Line 8 (the one that use for this) I have:

sound2.png

which removes most of the distortion.

But I fear all this does not help you, sorry. I hope Roman can get to the root cause, I am sure it is in ESDR2 but perhaps not

Erik.

Hi, everyone.
Mathias, could you please make a video, where you'll show us your PROC settings, mic settings, and a separate wave file with the result.
It'll help us with understanding the situation.

Hi Rome,

as desired the video with my MIC & PROC settings.

My audio is perfect when sending. My audio is also perfect when I use "VOICE REC" and "TX PLAY". My audio is only completely overdriven when I use "Line Out to Wave File".

I have already posted the result (Line out to wave file) of the PROC settings & mic settings as a wav file (1x wav file with microphone level 15%, 1x wav file with microphone level 0%).
