All,
The SUNSDR PRO II have an open collector to switch / PTT a power amplifier. This means switch time is very fast I guess we talk about Nano seconds.
In the software the TX delay in CW is not present anymore. Even using my Juma 1000 amp that is QSK capable, relays have 5ms switch time, I am concern for hot switch of my amp.
Solution:

1. Use a winkey to solve this issue
2. Will there ever be a time delay setting again in the EESDR software, if yes we have a solution.
3. In N1MM+ you can set timing like I.E. 20ms PTT before you actually start to send. Is this something you could trust, if yes then we have a solution.

What is peoples thought about this, I have tested N1MM to generate CW, I have forced the software to have real-time priority and it works ferly well. Anyhow it sound good, but
it do not take long to burn out some relays in the amp if switch time is an issue.

Any comments please

Hello Rune,

My comment is that I have run a QSK amplifier for 2 years and not had a problem.

PTT delay in the software I use, N1MM+ and 5MContest, is reliable so far as I have experienced.

For a hard-wired key, I use the break-in delay to overcome the missing PTT delay.

I have previously mentioned to EE the lack of a definitive explanation and advisory in the user manual, coupled with the cryptic message you see in the software. In the absence of any change so far, perhaps it is best to do as I did and consult the amplifier manufacturer.

Hello Erik,

Thanks for feedback. May i ask you what settings you have in I.E N1MM for delays (ms) and also the break in delay settings you use.
What kind of AMP are you using ?. Do you run contests regularly.

Thanks

Hello Rune,

In N1MM I have a 200ms delay.
The break-in delay is 200ms.
The amp is the SPE 1.3

The tech guy at SPE could not comprehend that I had a radio with no TX or PTT delay. He said my amp needed 10ms due to 5ms switch time and 100% (another 5ms) safety margin.

No, I do not run contests regularly. So I know that you will wonder if my usage is as intense as yours and I suspect it is well short. Just WPX/CQWW/160m in a year.
