I am a new EESDR user, coming from an Anan 7000, which I still have, and like. Not sure the SunSDR2 will stay here in the shack. Have been using the latest version of SW, and find the lack of AGG-T unacceptable for me.

If I download and install ver 1.2 I understand I will have that function. Is there a way to import my settings from v1.3 into v1.2? Or will they be there automatically? I find the description of the use of profiles lacking in the manual.

Hi Doug - if you dig around the forum many of us are just as worried about the lack of AGC-T adjustability as well. I don't think I'll end up keeping my SunSDR2 DX if EE doesn't offer the capability soon. I guess it's possible the guys at EE have never used an Anan or Flex with AGC-T? If not - they should - then they will see why it's so important to us.

There has been some "hinting" at a basic version of ESDR3 & a "pro" version (maybe at an additional cost) that will include this functionality - I guess since Expert Electronics has stated they feel that the canned AGC settings are suitable for most operators.

I would gladly pay a (fair) price for an enhanced version of the software that included this feature and maybe more. If you happen to find a link to the 1.2 version of the software, please share it here. I haven't been able to find it... Sorry, don't know the answer to your question re: preserving/importing settings between versions as I am very new to the SunSDR platform.

Where can we download ESDR 1.2? I'd like to play around with a version that supports AGC-T.

For the Pro (not DX) it is at eesdr.com/images/software/ESDR2_1.2.0/ExpertSDR2_x64_1.2.0_SunSDR2_setup.zip

In answer to W3UB: you will run into trouble if you use 1.3 settings in 1.2 because some 1.2 functions were removed for 1.3 and some others added. Strange behaviour results in running 1.2 with a 1.3 Options.ini file. In my opinion, and this is what I do though obviously do whatever you feel is best, is to temporarily rename your C:\Users\computer-name\AppData\Local\Expert Electronics\ExpertSDR2 folder before installing 1.2. Then you will get a unique ExpertSDR2 folder for 1.2 version on its first launch. It will need a once only set up. I manually swap between those folders as I do use 1.3 except for weak signal CW work where the AGC-T in 1.2 is invaluable.

Thanks for the replies, I figured it might be a bad idea to use ver 1.3 settings on ver 1.2.

It looks to me like ver 1.2 is still on their software tab:

eesdr.com/en/products-en/transceivers-en/sunsdr2pro-en#software

Isn't that the right version to try AGC-T?

See above, answer already given. with link. It is the one with a global setting for AGC-T. You will need to reduce the threshold down from the default value. For me on 160mtrs, the 'knee' is at a setting of 120.

Got it, had misread the post above, thought it was only for the DX version even though it was clearly stated ...
Have downloaded it and will probably wait and see what transpires with ver 3, assuming it comes soon.

Does (did) the AGC-T adjustment include a graphical representation of the threshold, i.e. a line on the spectrum showing the threshold. I hope so, as that makes it trivial to set exactly where you want it.

No Doug, it did not. It has to be done by ear or visual interpretation on the panorama. But I see where you are coming from: if it eventually gets the green light for future implementation in ESDR3, your point should be promoted to EE for inclusion.

Hi Hans,
It does not matter if the firewall is activated or disabled. Always the same mistake. The Sun Pro II is directly at the LANPort.

Hello,
Well, intermittently, the ExpertSDR3 starts correctly, it works and suddenly it turns off and loses connection with the computer, which in my case is the SunSDR2 Pro.

Someone else happens to him ...?

I am running 0.8.1 Alpha and I am trying to use the "Scalable waterfall" but cannot see how to make it work. I have switched "Scalable waterfall" on in the settings but nothing seems to have changed. I hoped this would allow me to adjust the threshold and range of the waterfall. Has anyone else worked this one out?

Martin, I thought the same, and even raised a bug report!
Truth is, the 'scaleable waterfall' really means that the waterfall does not stop rolling if you resize the ESDR window. I have emailed Roman and suggested tool tips or a better label.
I bet most of us thought it was a way to scale waterfall sensitivity....alas not!
Apart from that, and a few other wrinkles, I like Vers 3 a lot.
