TOPIC: The RX EQ introduces audio distortion

The RX EQ introduces audio distortion 18 Nov 2021 01:31 #1

The receive EQ, when enabled, creates audio distortion. Any fix?

When using almost any equalizer it’s always best to “Cut” rather than “Boost”.
Try this and see if it helps:
Set EQ flat then just “Cut” or remove the unwanted frequencies by moving the slider below the 0dB line on the equalizer.

The more you boost your EQ the more audio GAIN you are adding so if you boost too much you will over drive the signal chain and have distortion.

No, there is trouble in firmware. Engage RX EQ, starting with a reset, then push the first three sliders on the left (31, 63, 87) all the way down, leaving all the rest in default, there is severe audio IMD on received signals. It becomes much worse when high frequency bins are de-emphasized. No matter how slight a deviation from default, there remains audio IMD.
