How to connect tablet to my MB1 over home WI-FI? 30 Sep 2021 23:37 #1

Can someone explain how I can connect my tablet PC to my MB1 over local home WI-FI?
I just want to set up my tablet PC so I can connect to my MB1 downstairs and just use my tablet to SWL at night.
I installed EESDR V2 on my tablet but it does not see the MB1 over my home network, Do i need to port forward or something?

Hi,

First you need to setup bridge connection on MB1, between two networks interface. One network card is locally interface for MB1 SDR a second for others....
Conclusion: MB1 has the default network 192.168.158.xxx but your home network is in another subnet for example 192.168.1.xxx so it can't get to network 158 without making a bridge.... somewhere you can find oldest post here how to setup bridge connection.

I forgot to mention the MB1 is connected to my router via cat6 cable and the router also has built in Wi-Fi that I connect my tablet PC to.

If any other MB1 owners know how to connect another pc to the MB1.
My MB1 is connected via cat7 to my wi-fi router.
My other pc connects over WI-FI.

Hi John,

You got the answer in my previous writing. I probably didn’t write well in English so it’s a misunderstanding.

Your answer was perfect. I just do not know if I should make the bridge in the MB1 or router.(The MB1 has x2 Ethernet ports on the back)
If you or anyone who possibly find the information on how to connect to the MB1 over home network via WI-FI to another PC could you please provide a link to it.

Again this is mainly so I can connect to my MB1 over wi-fi on my home network to Listen only with my tablet PC upstairs from my shack. If I can also TX that would be great but not a priority.
Thanks
John

John, if you want to do it the easy way just use Chrome Remote Desktop for example, this way you have access to the whole PC.

John,

MB1 transceiver is a build PC + transceiver. Not like other SUNSDR products that you can connect from outside, lets say over the network and start your ExpertSDR app. The internal SDR is not exposed to outside, it's a USB network card in a non routable internal network. It's accesible only over the internal build inside PC. Sure, things can be done but that would complicate your user experience. Maybe the best fit will be the remote part of the next release EESDR3. Also what tablet do you use? Ipad, Android or Windows based?

I have a windows 10 tablet PC. I think V3 makes connecting to radios simpler but I don't know as I do not have V3 installed to test.

I wonder if i should just wait for the official version of V3 to come out. Will it be easier to connect to my MB1 over my home network with the new version ESDR3?
