Could EE consider adding an audio input via soundcard/VAC to simplify integration of programs that do not have TCI?

Perhaps something like my attached image

I would agree that would be helpful

However, I don't see it happening as there going to most likely tell you to use the RadioSYnc application, which will them taken audio from a given source and pass it via TCI

The problem with that is it doesn't work all that great
I haven't seen any updates or fixes to a few GitHub comments regarding radioSync
Just my gut feeling on this Terry

Just FYI - VAC is one of the obsolete technology kind. True it is still in use, but has no future.
Also useful only on Win, semi on Linux, copletely useless on Mac. Means EE have to pack is separately for each OS.

MB more productive is to ask the vendor (who uses VAC) to implement TCI. API is very simple and easy. Perhaps, will take less time then implement it in ESDR3.

Of course your correct but it is best to include soon to be legacy features because not every application supports TCI at this time and some no longer supported software will never be updated to TCI but these products are still used by many users.

There are probably as many if not more Windoze and Linux users than there are MAC users so lets be fair to everyone!

I promote this idea instead of suggesting Radiosync which admittedly is not perfect because I dislike having to use 'Bridging' programs and feel the package should be complete.

Terry, using same logic ("unsupported, but many users still use it") we can ask EE:
- to support WinXP and MacOS Catalina;
- to embed drivers for all old audio codecs;
and so on.

No need. There is a lot of SW for TCI, and the list will grow. If there is something will be really missing - we have enough programming capable users in the community.

Terry

Although I have gotten it too work
I don't care for it you can do the following, and depending on application you may need to enable the Volume control in VAC to do this, and then you have to use WinDOZE for adjusting it, you may find you have enough gain +/- using the PC mic slider I did not in my experience, and this is how I use VARAC or I do so through SDC and VAC to TCI

Good point Rick and probably makes my suggestion unnecessary!

That's how I do it for fldigi and PSK. I just assign the VAC for input and output and use the MicPC and the AF and RF gain to adjust for TX and RX levels.
