TOPIC: VPN connection setup

VPN 10 Dec 2020 00:31 #1

I have a VPN it is openvpn running on the same network as the Sunsdr2 DX with an IP address of 192.168.16.200, when I connect to the VPN from a remote location I can access any device on the local network but cannot connect to Sunsdr2 DX. Can someone tell me how the Sunsdr2 DX routes without a a gateway address.
I have read other post about vpn's but have not seen a way to make this work. Sorry to say I do not like the remote software.

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Tom

Thanks for the reply Roman, but that does not answer the question has what the GW is and how the radio can route, I have 2 networks in my house and cannot connect to the radio if I am not on the same network as the radio. I don't want to use TeamViewer or any other software to connect to an ip based device.

Thanks again for the reply

Hi, Tom.
There is no simple way to control the TRX from a PC with a different subnet. The transceiver has a static IP address so you'll have to be on the same subnet.
There are solutions to this situation, which usually are applied to remote operation.
Please describe your setup, then we can suggest a solution.

Be sure your VPN is a "Bridged VPN". If your VPN is tunneling packets (as I suppose) you won't be able to work with the rig.

Hi Guys,

Does work EXPERTSDR3 software with VPNs on SUNSDR2 DX?
I only see the CLOUD settings in the ExpertSDR3 software.

Hi,
working with VPN means running your rig in "local" mode.
A properly configured VPN (as already said before - bridged/tap) make the discovery process very simple practically the same as your client is on the local network.
In such a way EESDR V3 works the same as EESDR2. I already tested it over VPN and found a great improvement over EESDR2.

Hi Enzo,

ExpertSDR2 works well here, but where do I need to write these IP values for ExpertSDR3?

EXPERT SDR2 SERVER IP ADDRESS RADIO SIDE: 192.168.115.43:50001
EXPERT SDR2 CLIENT IP ADDRESS CONTROL SIDE: 192.168.115.102:5050

Only cloud fields are visible in expert SDR3.
I have a VPN (PPTP), I don't want a CLOUD.

VPN (PPTP) works well in ExpertSDR2.

Please send a picture of the settings.
I attached mine.

Hi Viktor,
unfortunately I won't be at home for few days, anyway you can give a look at a video I recorded some weeks ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6_SuGaa6Zs
When you work on a VPN connection device shouldn't be "remote".
Just open EESDR and try to find the device. It should appear in the rig selector.
