Hi, i’m waiting to my new sunsdr2 dx which is expected to arrive in 2-3 days. In the meantime I’m looking around to setup my radio shack.
I wonder if I can key an external tuner like I do with other rigs.
What I’d like is that with ATU connected to the ATU plug for example, once pushing the Tune button the SunSdr reduce the power to 9-10w and emit a tone for 10 seconds or until the ROS is satisfied.
My tuner is an LDG at600 pro2.

The ATU plug on the DX is specific to the Expert Electronic tuner

it is not for other tuners,
Please do not email me and ask for help I no longer will be part of this, If I could delete /remove my profile I would do so.

Hi Max,
Have you found a solution for this?
I am planning to get a SunSDR2 DX and this is a showstopper since I need to connect to my LDG AT-1000Pro2.

I am currently tuning the LDG using the the ICOM cable from 7300. The 7300 also drives my ACOM 1010 via a single RCA phono cable.
Thinking of moving over to SunSDR but their tuner AAT-100 doesn't support QRO!

Wait let me get this straight, Just where in line is your current TUNER? before or after your 1010
the ATU-100 is only a 100 watt tuner which is WHY it connects directly via the cable to the 2DX- there isn't any reason why you couldn't use the LDG AT-100oPro2 you currently have.

JUMPSTART, OR “REAL HAMS DON’T READ MANUALS!”
Ok, but at least read this one section before operating the AT-1000ProII:
1. Connect a 50-ohm coax jumper cable from the antenna jack on your amplifier to the TX jack on
the back of the AT-1000ProII. (This cable must be rated to 1000 watts.)
2. Connect your antenna’s 50-ohm coax feedline to the ANT 1 jack on the rear of the AT1000ProII.
3. Connect the supplied DC coax cable to the jack marked 12 VDC. Connect this cable to a DC
source between 11 and 16 volts DC, 1000 mA. The jack center tip is positive.
4. Power up the transceiver, and select the desired operating frequency and mode.
5. Bypass the amplifier.
6. Make sure Antenna 1 is selected (ANT 2 LED is off). Press ANT to toggle.
7. Begin transmitting, any mode1
.
8. When the tuning cycle completes, activate the amplifier, and you’re ready to operate!
Note: With the amplifier active, it is suggested to place the AT-1000ProII in semi-automatic
tuning mode to avoid re-tuning at high power levels.

The SAME TYPE of setup you currently running is the SAME WAY you would hook up the 2DX (there is a DB15 connector on the back, you need an AMP cable or Better YET MAKE ONE Pins 13 and Pins 15 of that DB15 connector) are all you need for the 1010 or ANY ACOM TUBE AMP ( solid state can be a bit different and band data control)

In your setup just swap the current 7300 for the 2DX- I can not understand the over thinking and non understanding basic setup here, It Boggles me there is no show stopper to this its the SAME setup you currently use!

Why do you think you need a QRO antenna tuner? The Acom 1010 is a valve (tube) amplifier...and I would certainly not use a tuner between the amplifier and antenna....tuning the output side of the 1010 will take care of matching amplifier and antenna impedances surely? Or am I missing something?

Nope Paul your not missing anything! Only thing I can think of (since the ACOMS TUBE/VALVE 1010-A1000 A1500 and 21000 series) all will tune an antenna as long as the match can be 3:1 or less the tunning of the Load/Tune in the Acom will retune Antenna as well. or perhaps he is using his LDG if his Antenna is really out of resonate state ( and the internal tuner of the 7300) cant justify tunning it on its own because the impedance is that far outta whack! in which case a better suited antenna would do more for them then an Amp at the 1010 power levels-

But again. I'm am not sure what some of them are trying to accomplish.. or destroy

Yep Rick...I could maybe see it if the QRO amplifier was solid state (a bit like adding a KAT500 after a KPA500) but not an Acom valve/tube amp. Oh well.......

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the guidance there.
I am very new into this hobby with little electronics knowledge hence the thought of biting the bullet and then frying anything is scary.

Both Paul and yourself got it spot on.
My QTH is a tiny island, apartment on the 4th floor there's really no space for a resonant antenna. Trim after trim but on some band is still above 3:1 henceforth AT1000Pro2 came into play. Getting my signal out to EU and NA requires a little drive from the 1010.

Got it figured the EXT.CTRL pin 13 and 15 on DB15 into DX2 and other end phono into 1010.

Just IMHO ... if you cannot get you raw antenna below 3:1, then L-match hardly imaginable to help anyway.
