Nikos,
I'm new to SunSDR2 DX, however, when i purchased the radio, i was using a RadioSport RS60CF headset, only because it was that or my Heil Pro 7 headset or my Yaesu MD-200a8x. I found that I wasn't gettng the audio that i wanted from two headsets, so i tried the Yaesu, but it also didn't work well. On a whim, i tried my $25 Walmart Logitech H390 gaming headset and found that it sounded wonderful. Instead of connecting it to the radio, this headset connected to my computer via USB. I was quite happy with it, but noticed that the frequency response from the microphone wasn't all that great. I went on a search for a USB podcaster microphone and ran into the Blue Yeti X. This is a professional podcaster USB microphone and OH MY does it sound awesome! I have had it for about 3 weeks and i get nothing but great compliments on the sound.

If you're unsure what to try, give either of these 2 USB microphones a try.. you'll be pleasantly surprised of how good the audio quality is!!

Audio is very personal- and depending on someone is listening (Example narrow/med/wide on their RX bandwidth) it can make a lot of difference

Howver it's always nice when you get NON solicited comments- and even when a station calling for DX stops calling and has nice comments

I have been using a Yamaha CM500 headset since 2008 with favorable reports. First used with an Elecraft K3, now with the SunSDR2 DX plugged directly into the transceiver. I adjusted the audio using the method here by Vasily , RN6LF

Here is a Link to the X-AIR SCN files I have setup and been using lately

You can then import them into the X-Air software and view them or use them or adjust to your needs if you wish.

Don't laugh but here's an embarrassingly inexpensive headset I stumbled across whose electret boom mic sounds amazing - sold by Monoprice in the US:

www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=43017

It is very lightweight (which can be a good thing) and honestly looks quite cheap, but it's mic is clearer and has better fidelity (IMO) than the mics on the Yamaha CM500 and ModMic unit that I own and have been using up to now. I made sample recordings with each (plus my Aston Spirit condenser mic for comparison) and was totally blown away at the audio quality of this cheap little headset's mic. Sounds on par with the Aston! I use this cheap headset exclusively now and I like the fact that I can easily replace it for little $$$ and is quite comfortable. And surprisingly, its headphones (with 30mm drivers) sound better than the next level up headset they offer with 40mm drivers (which I also bought, because it has better earpiece padding and looks less cheap). I don't know why, but the 40mm drivers don't produce as much bass (I mean it's really anemic), but the mic on that model sounds the same (just as good) from my comparison tests. So I think they are using the same electret element on both models. I am returning the next level up headsets due to its lack of headphone bass response. But either would be fine for use with this radio. Both have a single cable with TRRS 3.5mm plug ends but also ship with USB A adapters (which I didn't use in my comparison tests and I don't use with the radio).

So that's my story anyway. Just thought I'd share. Good luck on your search!

Thank you for sharing. I notice a big difference from sdr2 dx vith version 2 and version 3. I started with version 2 and modmic and was not happy then I did go to Rode podmic with external soundcard and that become a changer but was also difficult to set up because it picks up everything from fans and from Amplifire and so on. I run in to DAW but to much work and also some delay. Now I am on sdr2 dx version 3 and use modmic again but going threw the rode go mic II which is bluetooth so I have the set the tranceiver of rode go II to my headset and then the receiver in the mic input on sdr2 dx mic input and set it to max and now I have no cables to my headset (also bluetooth) to the computer. So with Vox enabled I can walk around without any cables attached to me and talking in a ragshew or even doing some dx. Many people have say that I have a vey good audio whithout I have question that. So today I am very happy with my setup. But did a test going back to sdr2 dx V2 and that didnt work good. So I stay with Alfa v3 and bluetooth threw rode go mic. Works terrific.
PS I had the rode go mic equipment from earlier video recording so just testing and it worked out really good.

I have had the SunSDR2 Dx for one year now and have been using the Audio Technica ATR1300 mic during this time.
I recently received Info on a Condenser mike, which I have always had an interest in trying.
It's the uhuru XM-900 Microphone Set.
Heavily used by Podcasters.
Comes complete with Mic, cables, shock mount, wind screen, pop filter and boom.
It's been a real delight to set up on SDR3 Alpha and have been getting excellent results on audio quality.
I already had the Neewer NW-100 for supplying the Phantom Power and no in line amp is needed.
