Internally, I do not think so but externally yes as you would any computer. I have a SanDisk Extreme 500 USB SSD for my MB1. They come in various size of disk up to 500GB and can be run and powered via one the MB1's USB3 ports. Very useful for recordings that would otherwise use up the main drive. Programs run just fine from it too.

I think internal Sata conectors can be used for second SSD, but if you want, please, do it after warranty period.
External SSD via USB 3.0 it's also good solution.

adding an eSata port on the back of future models would be a great addition as well as options for a beefier processor and additional memory.

You can add eSata via USB. The adapter is only $10 approx.

RAM can be upgraded - 16GB helps enormously. RAM is cheap.

The CPU can be upgraded to an i7-6700T. Unfortunately, not a cheap option but very worthwhile if you want multiple monitors, both receivers, 2x Skimmer, etc. Less of an expense is to offload to a 2nd computer via ethernet and the Software Defined Connectors 3rd party software. But QRX for a EE supplied LAN<>COM solution to come soon.

Yes, I hve a USB/SSD combo now as second drive for the MB1, I just think a sata port on the back would be nicer and save on USB resources.

Good to know about the EE supplied com solution, I can wait for that, I have a beast of a computer I prefer to offload as much as possible to and it already has a 4K 40 INCH screen. I am already using nomachine to access the MB1over a local GB lan to use the MB1 on my main screen in a window. Still trying to figure out why Windows 10 on the MB1 won't let me add an unrecognized monitor all my other Win 10 machines allow this after detect another mo itor fails. This would allow the use of a virtual defined second monitor virtually via nomachine without having to physically attach a monitor.

If we get com ports over Ethernet by EE, then I don't care about the second screen option as I can just hard run MB1 audio into the Hamzilla (the beast computer) and run 'll the software there. BTW, loving the MB1 so far, it's maybe the best SER out there and has lots of open ended potential.

It's a limitation of the graphics chip. Another USB solution. There are plenty of USB ports though I added a powered hub. As you say, resources are at a premium with the supplied configuration.

For backing up my MB1 drive I use external SSD fitted in USB/SATA enclosure caddy.
I have done evaluation on many of the software cloning products.
The best software is MiniTool Partition Wizard. I use it to backup my main PC also various other tasks.
Free evaluation software at:- www.minitool-drivecopy.com/
Only takes about 15min to do backup.

Minitool worked great, thanks for the tip! Lol, only thing that made me laugh was that Windows did a major upgrade right after I cloned the drive. Thanks again!

Do you have that CPU installed, just curious if anyone is using it. I haven't looked at what is in my MB1 yet, but have seen folks here saying it's an overclocked i5. I am thinking that a faster CPU that isn't overclocked and more ram might be overall less susceptible to instability somwhen my warranty is up, I might drop one of these in if it's a validated option, read about this CPU (doesn't seem to have T on it, just i7 6700) and it benchmarks really well. Would also be interested to know what is in the the MB1 right now, have to run a until and see. Might need to be careful that the power supply in the radio is plenty capable of supporting a higher watt CPU if in fact it is, cooling has to be considered as well.

The supplied CPU is an i5 6400T. It is important to upgrade to the 6700T and not the 6700. The 6700 is a higher wattage device and the MB1 case cannot exhaust the extra heat. For RAM, 16GB is necessary if you are going to run external monitors and/or both RX + 2 Skimmers, etc. I have the 16GB RAM but not yet the 6700T CPU - it is on order.

Nice benchmark, that's a pretty zippy CPU! Definitely a little pricey, but looks like it will be well worth it. Hamzilla here tops out at about 15000, its a 6 core I7.

Thanks!
