HI Gang, I currently own 2 MB1's, both antenna tuners are not tuning a antenna with swr 3.1 or lower.. to 1.1. swr
i hear all the clicking but do not get any possitive results.
I tune by going to atu and drop down to ATU TX and click on it. I press the tune button and clicking no swr Change from the beginning
Please Advise, Thanks
I feel reassured I'm not the only one to get this kind of problem.
I can tune antennas with SWR up to around 3 with the internal ATU of the MB-1 but I've never been able to tune antennas with 3.1/3.5 while it was possible with the ATU of my Icom IC9100 or IC7400. In my case, I can effectively hear the clicking again and again, the ATU tries to tune the antenna but it never stop tuning. I have to press 'Tune" button again to stop the process.
I've yet mentioned this kind of problem to EE team but I didn't really get a satisfying answer about this. So I made myself a reason, the ATU of my MB-1 is not able to tune my antenna when SWR is higher than 3.1
Note that tuning an antenna with the ATU of the MB-1 doesn't necessarily bring the SWR to 1.1 sometime it goes to 1.4, 1.3 sometime it is even worse than the SWR of non tuned antenna.
Anyway, I'm quite sure that there is already something wrong with SWR measurement on the MB-1, at least on my MB-1.
Does somebody yet made a comparison between SWR measured by the MB-1 and the same SWR measured by an accurate Power/SWRmeter?

I have the same exact results with my MB1 ATU,'s as you do, I sent a help ticket to EE today, I recommend you do the same.
I just had Hurricane IRMA pass thru where I live, and if I wanted to USE the MB1 for emergency communications
the out come would be bad,, EE please address this Issue. Thank you and 73 Ed KK4x
As I've written in my previous message I've yet mentioned a couple of time, at least, this problem to EE team.
Till now I didn't mentioned it on this forum but as it appear you have the same behavior I've done it.
On the paper the MB-1 ATU might be better than the ATU of an IC9100, for example, but it doesn't seem to be the case for the moment.
Concerning Irma I hope you don't have too much damage at home and on you ham station.
We guarantee normal ATU operation with SWR from 1 up to 3. Since several of MB1 users are very eager to use it with higher SWR values, we raised the limit up to 5, in the next ESDR2 release.
BUT from now on, ATU damaged while operating with SWR higher than 3 does not fall under warranty. Please share this information with other members of the MB1 community.
many thanks for your reply but note that when I bought the MB-1 last year I ordered the MB-1 with the ATU because ATU matching band characteristics in Ohm appearing to me better than IC9100 for example.
16.7 to 150 ø unbalanced for the ATU of the IC9100 and 15-20...300-500 for the MB-1.
As I yet wrote you, I was just surprised that the ATU of the MB-1 wasn't able to tune the same antenna in the same conditions than the IC9100 and the other think I still cannot understand is why these SWR is not alway decreased around 1.1 (why not 1.2 as I noticed on the IC9100) but sometime to 1.4, 1.6 or more.
For my part increasing operating SWR to 5 with the risk of ATU damage is not a reasonable thing. I'm very surprised by your reply.
For me the MB-1 ATU is able to tune antennas up to 3 and you just have to mention this fact in the MB-1 Characteristic.

why does the SWR not change when one uses the ATU, so with A swr of 3.1? so what your saying is to set to 5 I refuse to set it to swr of 5,
Honestly I expected a better working Atu LIKE A small LDG tuner, is there any thing you can do to address this problem, its very fustrating, especially if you want to go portable or use in a EMERGENCY , like myself during Hurricane Irma here in Florida, this is unsatisfactory.
