Greetings -

This is a two part, related question. Is any body running 4K, or ultra widescreen either at 2560 x 1080 or 3440 x 1440. The chip graphics is rated for 4096 x 2304. Is $K at 30 or 60 Hz? Nonetheless, would the MB1 support 3440 x 1440.

If not, and creative scheme to add an external graphics card via 3.0 usb?

I would imagine 3440 x 1440 would work as I'm running at 3840 x 2160. This is at 30Hz and I do not know about 60Hz.

A USB<>HDMI adapter can provide addtional 4K support - I have 3 such addtional monitors in extended desktop. I use a powered USB hub with USB-C ports because USB-C to HDMI is faster and supports wide screen and higher resolutions. An external card would work too.

Many thanks! You are a great help to the MB1 community. Just to calibrate, when you switched to 3840 x 2160 did you see a difference from a lower resolution. Asking a different way, is it nicer to view 3840 x 2160 or perhaps 3440 x 1440 be nearly as good?

It may be subjective but yes I did see a difference, I would not go back. Between the two res you quote, 3440 x 1440 would be indistinguishable from the other I think in terms of how nice the view is. There would slightly less 'real estate' on view but on a large screen that would not matter.

I run a wide format, I think it’s a 21:9 format. The main thing with more pixels for me is more elbow room. On mine I don’t run my SDR software full screen but the added resolution allows me to run a browser next to the running SDR software. So it’s more a matter of elbow room than the image quality of running anything full screen.

Yes exactly, I'm on 4K 28in screens and they display much more (than 2K) and the detail is so much better with less eye strain over long periods of operating. So your selected res is just fine. There is so much software to run these days: SDR, log, digital, browser plus other bits and pieces like controller GUIs. We all need extra real estate or elbow room.

Thanks for all the input. I currently run a 2K 32" screen. I used to run the MB1 on the 9 inch display, with logging and other programs on the 32 inch screen. Now, my eyesore has changed I need to run SDR on the big screen, which is far more enjoyable. I'll look for a largest 4K I can afford...there are also ultra-wide screen 49 inch "5K" that are 5120 x 1440 though those are in the $1000 US dollar range.

I've tried the two screen arrangement and it is difficult to center my work. I almost need 3 screens if I went the smaller screen route as in my mind the images would be balanced, if that makes sense.
