I would to share my thoughts and up to now experience with the radio, please do the same its going to be interesting to all of us.
Last weekend I found some time to work on WPX contest for about 10h total due to work. I am happy owner of Ft 5K ,and ex owner of ts590 and kx3. This is my first pure sdr radio that own, I like contesting and prefering CW . The ft 5 k has great roofing filters( 3xtprice )and ts590 (same price but not sdr,),as well but I was impressed with sunsdr filters , I was able to work with 100hz filter and +30 next to me but succeed to work flawlessly.
working with ecoder helps a lot specially for RIT and filters bandwidth , for me the biggest problem up to today is the tsak issue which is very annoying especially if the signals are weak (expert promise to resolve this issue) and some times NR and NR2 when engaged produces more noise than without ( I ve noticed that on 40m band I need to investigate if is only happens to me!)
Also is very convinient to work from my living room via LAN as the shack is on basement , but with remote running on PI or PC has lot of latency and is hard to hunt dxpedition or calling CQ, fr monitoring is just great.
Please share your thoughts as well!

The tsak issue is a metal noise usually appears after tx on CW mainly and in random times during RX , coming even from sunsdr headphones output or from sound card. As I know it's a known issue which on last beta 5 has an improvement but still needs work. I had troubles to copy weak signals especially numbers HI! Do we talk about the same problem?

Yes we are taking about same problem... I tried lot of things even having special network card for ESDR SW. I changed process priority to very high (permanently), better, but problem didn't go away ....Lets wait. for new version.

I saw that you were operating 20M in WPX CW.... I was on 40M TS assisted high power.

Indeed we aware of this issue and we'll try to solve it in the ESDR2 1.2 final release in late June.
Tomorrow we plan to release the alpha 7 with the brand new TX processing module for SSB and NFM operation.

Thanks Roman for feedback, I think this is major issue as the radio is used for all of us for either contesting and DX hunting so, when you have to deal with weak signals this is bit hard HI!
Is any work done on this issue on tomorrow release or we going direct next month? By the way on IOTA contest I ll demonstrate the radio to my friends which are interesting in this radio and are serious contesters.

Pibo I was more of the time on 20M and was big fun working with this radio ,especially how easy you can find free frequency for CQ and brick wall filters!

The last response on this thread was nearly a year ago so I'm wondering if the "tsak issue" was ever resolved. I'm very interested in the SunSDR2 Pro primarily for CW. Also can anyone comment on the QSK performance at 30 to 35 wpm?

"Tsak issue" is less noticeable now. Last versions of ExpertSDR2 are much better, but maybe I learned to live with it. I will be very careful during WPX CW contest to see the difference from last year. SRI but I don't do QSK.
If Roman will see that post, he will answer for sure.
I don't think that 3B7A had that problem. They were using SUNSDR2PRO on all bands and all modes...

Thanks for the info Pibo and yes, please post your assessment from operation in the WPX CW test. The 3B7A ops did an outstanding job. I'm not aware of any problems that the ops had with the SunSDR2 Pro rigs and it will be great to hear the op's comments on RX performance with pile up conditions.

So far, the 3B7A comment about the SunSDRPro2 has been: "The SunSDR2 pro by Expert Electronics have really been a game changer for us. All the team get familiar with them very easily and we cannot imagine a new project without them, associated with our Modmics provided by PileupDX they were just perfect."

They were already familiar with the exemplary receive performance from their previous Juan de Nova operation.
