I have a new SunSDR2 DX bought in January 2022 from NSI.

Using ExpertSDR2, when I listen with headphones plugged into the SunSDR2 DX I hear pops in the audio like an old vinyl LP. Those pops are not there when I listen with the PC. This is important to me because the keying latency makes CW unusable when listening with the PC.

Set up
SunSDR DX directly cabled to PC, Wifi out to the universe
Windows 10
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz 1.99 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)
Expert SDR2 Version 1.3.1 update 11

I tried turning off exclusive use on the windows audio devices as recommended here.

I changed the network priorities so Ethernet is lower than Wifi as outlined here

I even got brave and edited the registry Throttling as recommended here

None of these fixed the problem.
Any other suggestions?

I understand that they are reworking the CW side code (in relation to E-Coder2 which is suffering from these same problems) and is supposed to come out in the next version. Roman said that it should be coming out in Feb. It might address these problems hopefully since they are so similar. You might want to check with Roman to be sure if this is covered, as well as the release date. Last I heard it should be out any day now (it was mentioned about 2-weeks ago.) I'm just hoping it gets released before the ARRL CW contest.

Lower Sample rate "39 KHZ" almost eliminates the problem, at least in my case, until the final solution by the EE Team.

just got SunSDR week ago, and similar issue here, that makes very bad feeling.
What have you done to fix the issue ?
This is in all modes, and all "sample" rate, headset directly on the SunSDR (not via PC, in fact it is same!)
I have an audio (attached)
I have tried with 2 PC (an old Laptop using WiFi, where it sounds to be better than a PC Intel Core i7 8th generation with enough memory and GeForce video card)

Hello everyone.
The described issue is mostly caused by the Windows and solutions are presented there - github.com/ExpertSDR3/ExpertSDR3-BUG-TRACKER/discussions/118

Nevertheless, what is already done for ESDR3 0.12.0 is a big rework of the firmware and ESDR3 software on a low-level.
Programmers still have the CW-core and some other things left to rework.
The changes are already so vast that new firmware won't be compatible with ESDR2 anymore.

I did all of the things I referred to in the original post. That and reducing the sampling fixed it for me.
In all my searches I hadn't see the ExpertSDR3 bug tracking so I just applied everything I could find in the forum. I included links to the discussions.

Loading incompatible firmware is going to take a huge leap of faith. In my experience ExpertSDR3 .11 is too slow to be usable. Loading and every action takes a very long time. For example, if I try to adjust a slider the screen freezes for several seconds and then the slider is not where intended.

I suspect anyone with an older system and or graphics card would be best to stay with V2 until you upgrade your hardware,

Glad it works for you.
I outlined my system in the original post. I think it is not old or slow. I forgot to mention it has a Nvidia graphics card. It has no problem with ExpertSDR2. I also have a Hermes Lite 2, a similar SDR transceiver that is also Ethernet connected to PC processing software, and it runs all of the HL2 software without problem. The HL2 with Simon Brown's SDR Console has a low enough latency that I can send with a key in the transceiver and monitor my Morse code sending on the PC.

Hi everyone again.
To answer several posts in one:
1. We'll try to release it before the ARRL DX CW contest (19 Feb), at least share it with testers.
2. Adapting new firmware for ESDR2 may take a month or even more, at this point it's a waste of time.
3. As far as I know ESDR3 works way faster than ESDR2 and requires fewer CPU resources.
So the issue described by Bob KD8CGH might be in the API used for ESDR3 display or overall CPU load with other third-party software.
It's not normal and should be addressed closer to the release of ESDR3 1.0.
