In the Option -> Spot setting, that I use to connect ESDR with a cluster,
I think it is very useful to have a telnet monitor and a command line to send
commands to the cluster to which you are connected.
For example, to enable or disable certain filters by band or mode.
So, something like a simply telnet client (putty).

In the Option -> Spot setting, increasing the maximum number of spots,
during contests like a CQWW, 300 is very limiting.

The problem in spot settig was that in the major contest like CQWW or WPX,
we have more than 300 spot in single band every 10-15 minutes.
So if....for example.....i am in contest like Single operator - Single band....CW
is better send to the cluster a command to filter spot.....
I will receive only spot for 20m band CW mode .....end not other band....and not other mode....
So i reduce the ammount of spot that the CPU work.

To send filter command to cluster, I need a command line like in a telnet client.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Rome, you have considered this possibility.
I think it is of interest to many other users.
Thank you.

Meanwhile use SDC and its Telnet Server.

Hello Erik,
of course I know that there is a splendid telnet server with SDC,
but why i must use an external software, when I just have it inside de ESDR...??

Thanks.

I did not say you "must", Andrea - only that you can use SDC in the meanwhile until something is done in ESDR2. You know it already, no problem. Since you mentioned contesting, SDC connected to the contest log gives all scoring info to the Panorama that ESDR2 cannot, so naturally "on the fly" filtering in contests is best done from SDC. That is all. Nothing more hi.

Erik.

Hi, Andrea,
Erik is right, mostly loggers are responsible for operation with spots, thus you can adjust what you need in SW like SDC.

Erik and Rome, I fully agree with what you say, the best solution in the contest is to use the SDC telnet server.
This, however, must not exclude the possibility of using the direct connection, present in esdr.
And if we can improve it, why not do it ...?
We have to see things from a different perspective.
When we are connected to a cluster, and above all, if we are connected to a cluster + skimmer,
why receive al lot of spots from all the bands, and then SDC filter them to a single band or single mode,
if I am participating for example as a single 40 meters operator ..?
The simplest thing is to send the command to the cluster to send us only the 40m spots, and only rtty, for example,
and exclude the others directly.
In this way we will have a lower use of bandwidth, less traffic between clusters and users,
less consumption of CPU resources that must not filter the spots ... because we only receive the necessary.

To do this we must have a telnet command line, in order to send the filter command to the cluster directly from esdr.

I hope I was clear.

Thanks anyway for your attention, and thanks for the excellent software that you provide us.

Hi, Andrea.
You are right, I also think that it's best to have this function in the ESDR2 as well as a multitude of other features, BUT since this function can be used via third-party SW, like SDC, and ESDR2 completely lacks other very important features, we intend to concentrate on things like new Band Manager, XVTR etc. and only then work on smaller features.

Mouseover hover-popups over the spot on the panadaptor to display mode/notes etc. would be nice too 8-)
