Hi,

when I am operating digital modes like PSK or FT8 and transmit periods about 1 minute, and doing this 5 to 10 times, temperature of MB1
is rising up to 50° or more (shown by MB1-Utility). Even if I reduce output power to 50% this effect is still there. Is that high temperature
still in a normal range? If I switch fan speed manually to "high" (very noisy), temperature is still rising up, but slowly.

In receive mode, temperature stays at about 38° C. All measurements done with normal room temperature (21°).

Any comment? How is your experience with temperature of MB1?

Hello Manfred, my MB1 is the same as yours. 50C or more is normal.

I have never seen it get to 60C even in an RTTY contest. Approaching that temperature I would introduce the manual high speed fan but in normal circumstances that is not necessary.

It should go without saying that the usual computer/ radio housekeeping should be applied. After each one year of operation I remove the top cover, clean the CPU fan and apply a vacuum hose to the rear panel to suck dust out of the cabinet and off the cooling fan. Just as you would your desktop computer.

Erik.

Hi Erik,
thanks for your advice and the information about the temperature with your MB1.
I opened the top cover, as you said, and cleaned the CPU fan, not really much dust there!
You should have warned me: I had to open 24 screws to get there! :)

I will continue with observing the temperature!

Thanks again, Erik!
