Just recently I have been using the excellent 5MContest for the RSGB CW Autumn contests & have just had my latest UBN report from the RSGB. It shows three contacts where my call of G3XLG was copied by three other stations as F3XLG, A couple of stations had come back to me as F3XLG and I thought I had corrected the call for them. So it seems as though there might be a bit of "stuttering" when sending my call when in Search & Pounce mode, it did not happened when I was in Run mode. My call had always sounded normal to me in the phones though.
My settings in the BreakIn tab on the SunSDR2Pro are - BreakIn 200ms, Pitch 475 Hz, Width 66%, Ramp 8ms.
I am using a LogiKey keyer & the SunSDR2Pro is using Version 1.3.1 Update 7

Does anyone have any ideas of where I should look for the problem, in the Sun settings, the 5MContest settings or even the Logikey?

I am thinking on some ideas to check out:
- in Run mode your first word is probably CQ and your callsign is sent later while your rig is in transmit mode. Could it be a switching delay effect in S&P mode when your callsign is the first charachter.
- In the ExpertSDR2 do you have the 5MContest operating on the second keyer port in CW setup?
- On the LogiKey do you have setup a delay of say >10 ms.
- The ExpertSDR2 does not have any delay in CW from the logging software. I am using Winkeyer and the delay must be setup on it or in the logging software, in my case N1MM+ config for the Winkey.

Thank you for your comments Erik.
I think you are right that occasionally there is a switching delay when in S&P.
In ExpertSDR2 I do not have 5MC operating on the second key port in the CW tab
In the Logikey I have now put in a 10ms delay as you suggested, so I will try that for while & see if it has cured my problem
Thanks again Erik

I checked my Winkey delay setting in N1MM that is 50 ms. Works fine for me.
If you have an amplifier, band pass filter switch and antenna switch one must carefully set delays to prevent hot swtching as well. Breakin CW delay in ExpertSDR2 is also involved in the system setup.

Hello,
it is not clear for me if you are working in ESM mode or using the Function keys.
Anyway I use the trick of adding a space before the <my-callsign> macro. I think it is a better way for handling the beginning delay because it tracks your speed.
Also, I would suggest sending the code via the TCI interface that is very smart and fast. You can still using the key with your preferred hw keyer.
I dedicated some time to the 5MContest configuration steps. Maybe it can help. https://iw7dmh.jimdofree.com/sunsdr2-pro-pages/5mcontest-guida-parte-1/

Hi Enzo & Erik, thank you both for your replies.
Erik, I will increase the Logikey delay to 50ms from 10ms as you suggest, but I'm not sure its relevant, as I am already using ESM mode in 5MC and keying via the TCM interface? I suspect the Logikey is therefore only used when I hand-key the rig?
Enzo yes, i will add a space or two in the 5MC <my-callsign> macro which i think maybe the answer.
