Hi guys,

are there any ops here that use expertdr2 on their mac? I have a lot of questions, I hope, someone can help me out:

1. I like RumLog and the TRCV setup is straight forward and works well, however:
- rumlog is not sending any spots to expertsdr2 / or sw is not accepting them?
2. The ExpertSDR is not really showing a lot of spots if configured in the options, I got a few servers setup, they are all connected
- also, the colour of the spots / well, they are not very visible, tried a few settings, the font is also really small
3. does anyone have a setup on mac (I got m1 apple) and using something like cwskimmer/decoder with sending, integrated with rumlog?
4. can you share your setup, how you have configured the sw for the best useability on mac? Like how are you recording/playing messages in ssb, do u use external sound card with mic connected to your mac?

Anything else you can share? Let's build a little guide and help me out in the process.

Many thanks!

Oliver

Better ask rumlog's author if relevant TCI version with appropriate commands for spots sending has been implemented or it was intended to use spots via skimmer.

In ESDR2 the spot functionality was a bit limited and more oriented towards SDC (acting as 3rd patry gateway for the spots). If you are going this way, then use of SDC versions prior 15 is the best, because prior 15 a) free and b) has relevant TCI version for ESDR2). Note: everything regarding spots is completely different in ESDR3, remember this for future migration to ESDR3.

There are heaps of examples, just google it. (and it is always better ask Rumlog's author directly for the connectivity examples.)

The is no such thing as "best sw" or "best usability for mac". It works different way: first, you have to clearly determine you targets, environment, typical use and common working scenarios (i.e. work at shack/field/etc, hf/vhf, ssb/cw/digi/etc, antennas set(rotation/mag.loops/etc, contests/dxhunt/etc, etc, etc, etc). Then, second (and after you fully understand "what, why and how"), you can map your requirements to platform/OS, to achieve max performance available to the date. The above should explain why there is no "universal guide" for very individual scenarios (which are 95% of use cases in SDR radio). As the matter of fact - I use mac (various models) in combination with ESDR2/3 and various SS2 since 2014, however there is less than 1% chance that my setup will be in any way usable in you case.

Recording/Playing messages in SSB is well described in user manual for ESDR2.

Using external sound card with mac - this sounds more like "salt is salty"
People are moving to mac from other platforms specifically due to the reason, that mac (apart from other os/platforms) has in-build advanced native sound processing and does not require any extra equipment. (Even standalone microphone needed for very limited special cases; in 99% common scenarions the quality headset, even BT one, is more than enough).
