Hi Folks,

today i do some Operations Remote witch my SDR2 DX.
I paused, because lunch with family.
Returning back to the PC my SDR2 was not reachable via Network.....

I take a look and now i have no blinking lights on RJ45-Jack.
Only light is blinking (two times and repeating) is the green power lamp. :|

What to do?

Ok, the SDR is definitly damaged....but i don't know why :o

Is there any way to repair it? Are there any addresses in the EU where you can send the device for repair/testing?

Hello,
It looks like the KSZ (Ethernet) chip got burnt.
As per the UM, page 9: Use Ethernet lightning protection for regions prone to lightning strikes.

Check Ethernet connection between TRX and PC. Is the netcard in your PC OK?
Try to ping the TRX.

Hi Roman,

thx for your Message.

I can't quite picture that.
There was no thunderstorm at the moment, nor was there a lightning strike. Any other overvoltage can be ruled out.

I have now reset the SunSDR to factory settings. In doing so, I was able to connect with SDR2 and the LED was no longer flashing. Shortly after the connection, it has automatically triggered a firmware update and completed this successfully. However, now after the FW update the flashing is again....also I can no longer reset to factory settings the TRX again....the alternating red/green flashing of the LED is gone when pressing the REset button after 3sec.

The transceiver is still accessible via PING. However, I do not see it in my network management (Unifi Dream Machine Pro).

The components on the PCB also look good, at least no massive traces of overvoltage. The KSZ and the PHY circuitry looks visually good.

By the way......the PCB design and inner workings are very well designed!!!

Now it's getting crazy again, which is why I believe in a software bug.....

Here are the pictures of PING and the SDR2 software:

I uninstalled everything and switched to the latest SDR3.
Info: I worked before on all computers only with the SDR3, the SDR2 served only to exclude errors!
In the current SDR I could again make a firmware update and Voilla......all again as it should be!

The question for me is: Why has the ETH shot itself in standby?

Here are a few more Pics.....

Ping after Change IP to my home Network

The only reasonable explanation we have is you could switch the SS2DX to WLAN mode. In WLAN mode the LED is orange (not green), check the UM, page 12.
Most likely, you've pressed BT longer than RST and switched the TRX into the WLAN mode. Press the BT button while TRX is operational.
P.S.
SunSDR2 DX doesn't have a WLAN module inside, it's a firmware bug which will be fixed with the release of a new generation firmware closer to the end of 2023.
