On my SUN SDR2 DX there is a 14cm fan covered with a protective grid. The openings in this grid are 7mm, and I have experienced that smal items from the shelf above easily can fall through the grid and into the fan, causing it to stop.
I look for a more dense grid to avoid these calamities without getting less cooling.. Hardware designers ought to consider a solution for this, as I think I am not the only one whti experience. .
