Want to get a transverter for 70cm. Never used one, I was always an HF guy. For the time being I'd be using it for repeaters and simplex, maybe down the road some satellite stuff.
I found a source for one (Q5signal>> q5signal.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=63 ) but I'm not sure of the configuration I would need for my SunSDR2DX. I was thinking of getting the 25w version and if necessary get and amp if needed down the road. Or would I be better off just getting one of the higher power models? Anyway I really appreciate any help.

I have the choices listed below. The only one I'm relatively sure of is the "High Stability Oscillator".

Common IF
Split IF

Hi.
I would chose 144 Mhz if . Then you are sure you will never give it 100W from 28 Mhz if. your VHF/UHF work will be on the A1 antenna .. with 10W input and common IF . that side is fine.
Also you only have 2 MHZ (28-30) FROM 28 MHZ IF .. With 144 IF you have 4 Mhz . I think 70cm in the US is wider , here in Denmark I have 432-438 Mhz.
on the transverter RF side some prefer split (one rx and one tx ) , then they kan use two cables to the antenna and place a preamp a coax relay and a PA close to the antenna.
Cable losses are a issue on 70cm . 25W transverter output is fine , but you need good low loss cables to your antenna.

just some ideas , I am sure there are many more.

I use a sunsdr2pro and transverters for 23cm 13cm 6cm 3cm and 24 Ghz.
