Today I have been trying to use Radiosync for the first time.
I am trying to configure ESDR 3 to work with WSJT-x in the same way I do with ESDR 2

I have configured RadioSync with the same settings as I use in ESDR 2 and the test CAT in WSJT-X works fine.
If I then try test PTT I get the attached error. I do hear the radio quickly go into TX but then it throws the error up and goes back to RX.

Everything else is working in WSJT-X from a CAT point of view, band switching, waterfall and data being received etc, just can't TX

Attached screen shot of error and settings.

Thanks
Paul

Paul!
RadioSync should be connected to TCI. Is TCI green in ESDR3?
Switch ON TCI in RadioSync...TCI should be green, CAT and sound card also....

For PTT dont use CAT but second COM pair. That is my suggestion only.

Thanks for the suggestion, TCI is connecting and everything working apart from TX, it just crashes with the error
I have attached 2 more screen shots showing the test CAT as successful followed by the error when you press Test PTT.

Not sure where you are referring to to use COM pair instead of CAT ?

Thanks
Paul

I suggest that in WSJT-x you use second COM port pair for PTT. You have to define it also in RadioSync RTS for PTT. I have it like that and no error with PTT in hamlib....
In your case you PTTing with CAT.
PTT transfer may work...

Did you change the PORT value of TCI in V3 to also be 40001 by defualt it is 50001 ( right click teh TCI tab after you diable it) to change value then re enable

Morning

Thanks for the workaround suggestion S58WW, I may have to resort to that but would rather try fix the Issue if I can.
I remember having a similar issue with some other hardware in the past that emulated Kenwood CAT. May have been with OmniRig and I think it was to do with the .ini file.

Casdr, TCI is on the right port and it is communicating with WSJTX, Audio and CAT control are both working fine. It is just PTT over CAT that doesn't work and throws up the error.

Thanks

@M1TZR Have you found a solution to this problem? I got the same error and I tried just about every advice I could find on the internet.

Hi Vedeanu

No not found a solution other that continuing to use ESDR2 :wall:

I am sure the fault is with incompatibility between the lib file used in wsjtx and the emulated driver from ESDR.
If you look at the following page you will get why I say this. hamlib-developer.narkive.com/axfIrJ33/hamlib-error-protocol-error-while-setting-ptt-off

I have configured other software VARAC and this is working correctly so the issue is between ESDR and WSJTX.

The details in the article linked go a bit over my head, but let me know if it gives you any idea.

Thanks

Has anyone found a solution to getting WSJT-X working with RadioSync yet? I have been trying everything I can find on the internet but haven't had any success. It's always the PTT that won't work. Decoding is working fine.
Thanks,
Dennis

Hi Dennis

I never found an answer, lost hours trying to find a resolution.
I had long since given up but seeing your post has reminded me so thought I do a quick test now I am on v1.0.5
Still doesn't work :wall:

I did try with other digital mode software and it worked so the conclusion was its something not quite right / compatible in the hamlib in WSJTX

I did get it to go into TX by selecting PTT method as DTR in WSJTX, having configured PTT to DTR in Radio Sync.
Radio did go into TX but no audio out just noise on the spectrum.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for responding. I have continued my search and found this a couple of hours ago: github.com/ftl/tciadapter
Looks interesting and I may give it a try tomorrow. I'm not sure if I can figure out the installation since I'm not a computer guru but may try anyway. Maybe there's someone on here that could figure out the installation of it
May just have to wait until WSJT-X gets the TCI interface incorporated.

Morning Dennis

Well I continued to try different settings last night and this morning and finally have one that works. See screen shot.
One thing I have noticed though is the TX signal looks very dirty see screen shot of TX on PSK.
I tried turning the audio level down till there was no drive but the signal didn't seem to clean up.
I have made a few contacts this morning on both PSK and FT8 but no one has complained of a wide signal.

Paul,

I tried your settings this morning and it now keys the transmitter. I'm also getting a TX signal that looks very dirty. My screen looks almost identical to yours when transmitting. I just made about a dozen contacts on FT8 with good signal reports received back. I'm going to play around with the audio settings to see if It will make any difference in the quality of the TX signal. This is very positive now! Thanks for your help on this. Please let me know if you come up with any solution to clean up the signal and I will do the same.

Thanks for letting me know it worked for you Dennis.
I will also let you know if I discover anything else about the apparent dirty output.

All the best
Paul
