Just wondering if anyone has used the combination SunSDR2 DX & Rode Procaster. If so what was your experience and were you able to produce good audio without the use of an external EQ and using only the inbuilt EQ of the SunSDR2 DX. I don't want ESSB audio just good DX audio for working DX and chomping thru pileups. I have heard stations using this mic but on traditional super het radios and they do sound fantastic. I just want to see if anyone has used this combination and had any success before I go out and spend the money. They are reasonably priced for a broadcast quality type microphone.

Just a quick reply Yes the Procaster works Brill with the Sunsdr2dx with external audio gear AND with the EQ's in the inbuilt EQ's in the software, I use either a Heil PR781 and the Rode Procaster and NEVER has a bad audio report Take your time and get the EQ just how YOU want it to sound and ENJOY the DX or ESSB audio it's down to you to sound how you want.

Hallo I use podcaster not procaster Have the Heil adapter working whitout problems works also with PC and a soundcard interface (XLR to USB) you can use all Sunsdr settings in audiotab. Procaster and procaster is not so different (I think)

Thanks for the reply. Do I require a phantom power supply, I would like to use the front sockets on the radio rather than USB. What is the best cable to do so? I want to avoid any external equipment where I can. I dont want to venture into external audio equipment, I'm just trying to find a mic with a bit of a bandwidth to work with the inbuilt EQ to achieve the audio I'm looking for without busting the bank account.

Also do you guys have any audio samples you could share?

I bought this cable from Wimo for my Rode (Podcaster) It is also with ptt adapter. But I use fotpedal ptt.
"Normally" no preamp/cloudlifter with dynamic Mic. You can use the booster in V3 software if you think you you have to boost your Mic.
Normally I have to be careful with gain because if you have to much gain you can overdrive and you also become noise from computers fans or whatever in your audio
I try to hold everything back as much as possible. Use signal meters and mic gain meters together with your EQ.and maybe filters. Record yourself and listen untill you are happy with your settings. It is different for all of us.

I purchased the Rode just waiting for the cable to arrive excited to have a good play with the EQ getting this mic to sound decent.

Anyone got a trasmit EQ profile with this mic they are willing to share as a starting point?
